Has any body had a problem with their 2009 1.8 autotrans Vibe having a problem shifting into over drive from a cold start. I purchased my Vibe in december of 09. I did not notice this problem untill I had nearly 2500 miles on the od. I thought it might just be a cold weather thing but now that the weather has been in the fifties at times I still have this problem. From a cold start the trans shifts fine from first to second a second to third but then the trans does not shift at the normal rpm for at least 3/4 mile. The rpms will go to nearly 3800 for 3/4 mile before shifting. After this it shifts just fine. I do not push yhios car hard at all when this happens. I have not been able to check it out in 60 degree or above weather yet. I had my deelership check it out and they said every thing was fine and it was probably a cold weather thing. I owned an 04 Vibe and never had this problem. In fact I think I made a big mistake going to the 09 Vibe. My MPG is nearly 4 mpg les than with my old Vibe. The car has over 3000 miles on it so it is broke in. Any ideas ?
correct. Like the first gen vibe, you won't be able to exceed a certain RPM limit until the car reaches an undefined operating temperature. The 09 is by no means as bad as the first generation however. You can really feel the car holding you back on the 1.8 liter first generation engine more than the 1.8 liter 09; but it is the same concept.
