Question for other 2009 Vibe owners

Post by AWDBlackVibe09 »

Hello fellow Pontiac Vibe members!!I have a question for the fellow 2009 Vibe folks....Recently while parking my Vibe, I spiced up my routine and turned the wheel slightly till it locked then exited the vehicle- locking the car while leaving it. When I returned the vehicle went into a security mode and would not let the key leave the 'lock' phase on the ignition. After trying to turn the key past the 'lock' phase, I got frustrated and exited the vehicle, taking my keys with me-locked the car-and took a walk- 'to calm down' around the car. After a few moments, I gave it one final attempt before calling 'onstar' and the engine allowed me to turn the ignition to 'start'. I was curious if any of you other 2009 Vibe owners have encountered this odd situation? If you have what advice do you have to unlock the steering column to allow the ignition to proceed to 'start'? This has happened to me in several vehicles. Next time this happens, turn the steering wheel from side to side as you turn the key in the ignition.

I had a 2007 Solstice that did this and I had about the same amount of trouble getting the steering wheel to unlock and now my Vibe seems to be resistant until I rock the wheel a few times

Haven't had this happen in the Vibe yet but on most of my other cars I have. Usually turning the steering wheel further in the direction the wheels are already pointed releases it. Certainly nothing to get upset about...
