CAI installed

Post by scherry2 »

started job of installing CAI at 10:00 A.M. started the vibe up at 11:45only 1 small problem, I had 2 vacuum hoses backwards (funny sucking noise every second or so)but thanks to the photos from Lancer I was able to tell what went where.I suggest removing the 4 bolts (2 grey and 2 balck) under the front end holding the inner fender in place, then you can bend the inner fender out of the way. my 10 year old son helped (small hands) with install of filter, all kind of room once the pipe is in place. Thanks again to lancer, without your pics it would be a chore for anyone to put it in. and thanks to everyone else for your support, you know who you are. NOW what next......

Hey, conrats!!! Sounds like it really went pretty well.I agree, thanks a bunch Lancer! Even though mine's a GT, it still helped to have that in a couple of spots where the Injen instructions weren't too clear. Anyway, glad you got it in without incident! Hope you're enjoying the results!

You won't ever tire of the sound! It's awesome and well worth the price. Not to mention the power gain!

lol my cai is just what i needed. it actually made my exhaust (straight pipes) a little quieter, and above 4000 made it sound like more muscle.

yea, its an automatic so just drivin around its nice and quiet but when you step on it sounds great and the performance, I seem to think there is more power in the 2000/3000 rpm range but really picks up around 4000 so I leave the o/d off. took my wife out on the highway tromped on it and she looked at me and she was grinning from ear to ear. can't wait to take a ride down I-69 and really open it up.

I haven't installed a CAI yet so I am curious......can someone describe in more detail the trick with the vaccum line that everyone is referring to? Thanks, Jim

Not quite sure what "trick" you're referring to...There's a vacuum line about 1/4" to 1/2" in diameter that is removed from the stock box, and then reconnected to a nipple on the CAI tube...That aside, I have no idea what you might mean?

no trick. I just un hooked more vacuum tubes than needed. when removing the air box you will see 1 vacuum hose to remove. I got over anxious and removed 1 on the VCS ( the blue plug and brass bracket you remove from the air box) just take your time look at the photos and you will do fine.

There are 2 smaller hoses connected to a brown vsv. those you take off. On the gt, one of the hoses you just removed connects to the throttle body and on the place where it connected to you put a cap that they provide.

Ok......wrong word for what I was trying to ask. It seemed that there was a step in the installation that involved the vaccum lines that kinda' gave folks a hard time for a second until they figured it out. I was just trying to get a heads up on that one before I purchased mine (although it will be awhile......I'm in Brokesville... ).Jim
