New summer audio project

Post by Kevzaz »

So, my recent subwoofer has kicked the bucket. It was fun while it lasted. But I still have an amp and all the wires.Fusion Power Plant 2000 watt mono amplifierAmp Specs:600 Watts RMS x 1 Channel @ 4 Ohms900 Watts RMS x 1 Channel @ 2 Ohms1000 Watts RMS x 1 Channel @ 1 OhmSo, I am on a quest for a new subwoofer. Perhaps a new DD 2510, or RE SE 12", or JBL W12GTI MKII.But I will keep you updated on my summer project.

Yeah, I would imagine. But It needs close to 2000 watts... Which is my WHOLE sub, I only have different ohms... haha. So most I can give it is 1000, But other ones are used for door speakers.

Alright. So I decided on the gear...I contacted Rusty from DC Sound Labs.I will be getting a 15" Level 4.The level 4 will be put into a 4.0 cubic feet box tuned to around 35hz.All being powered with 1000 watts.Pictures will be provided.

Kev, Nice man... That's a HUGE box though.. lol.. I'm happy to say that if you own the PP-AM200010It's got 3- 40a fuses on board... Using ohms law you multiply 3x40=120 and 12x120=1440w .. So it's at least making rated power, if not more.. good thing... What made you decide to go DC SL? That JBL would have done you better sound in less box, with more authority..

And I went DC because it was cheaper and I never heard a single bad thing about them. Their customer service is outstanding and their subwoofers are darn right sexy...

That woofer looks like a beast. What size woofer did you go with ( I saw you were planning a DD10" or RE12")Beefy woofer+big azz box+some power=roof waveing. The first sub I tried in my vibe was a DD2512 in 3.5ft3 tuned to 35hz the roof would wave nasty, open the sunroof and it would dance. If your goal is loud I think your gonna be happy as it is gonna be nasty.Aron

That is a big box at roughly 3.25 ft3 and should wang chung when done. What I meant about fitting one in my vibe was under the rear floor so noone can see it from the outside, total stealth.Aron

Project is on hold right now until I have sufficient funds for a new laptop for college. I would rather stress now for money, and play later. ;]Edit: That, and I can sell everything for 400, thats 400 closer to my laptop. The monsoon sub will have to do for now.
