Post by djb383 »

Anyone done any trailer towing with a 2.4L manual tranny? Opinions? What are engine rpm's at say 65 mph in 4th gear? Thanks.

Thanks.I trailed my tent-trailer last summer, in the Adirondacks heading to Lake George, NY, where a couple long hills can be found, and the Vibe hauled without any problems. We're a a family of 4, with 2 teenagers, and the pop-up is about 1300 lb. So, we probably exceeded the 1500-lb "limit" the Vibe has and still the car had plenty of power to haul. I don't have the RPMs, sorry...

The biggest risk towing with a manual is probably the clutch. The 2.4 is designed for a Camry which weighs at least 500 lbs more than a Vibe and has the same rated towing capacity, so you're already 500 lbs ahead of the game.
