I never had this trouble until recently; lately I've had TONS of calls from mainland numbers; doing a reverse phone lookup will only tell me the locations (Arglington, VA, LaGrange, LA, Tuscaloosa, AL, etc.) and my mom has been getting the calls too. She actually answered one of them and it was one of those "your automobile warranty is about to expire". I have instructed her for now NOT to answer any out of state calls ('if it has a really long number, DON'T answer it") because I do the same. But it's driving me nuts...I've had these phones for years, and this just started. HOW do I get it to stop? ThanksI actually got some texts on my aircard (!!) and I ended up PAYING .40 each for, but I got Verizon to put a block on that, end of that problem...now this
https://www.donotcall.gov/i put my cell on that list a long time ago. i don't get any telemarketer calls. occasionally i will get a text from my carrier for some ad or whatever, but it's free incoming so i don't care that much. hope this can help you.
OOOOH thank you thank you! That looks good, I'm submitting it right now!! I'll have to tell my boss about this since we get TONS of spam calls on the work landline.
That's gotta suck! Hope the quit bugging you soon.I got a spam text message the other night on my phone trying to make it look like the name of a bank I used to go to, only the morons didn't have the sense to spell the name of the bank right. Said my card was deactivated and I had to call a number (looked it up, local cell phone number) to get it reactivated. Yeah! Pissed me off because I only have the $30 plan which doesn't include text messages so this crap costs me money.Scammers suck!

I know...my plan doesn't cover texts either, and though very rare I would get texts from AT& T and complain to verizon and show it to them and they'd credit me the charge for the text. The aircard texts were more expensive than the cel texts and they put a block on texts and I haven't gotten any more. At least I have the aircard protected from spam.
Not that this is going to help you, but years ago my company gave me a new phone, and the number was a company's old fax number. I would get answer the calls and get an earfull of that high-pitched fax-machine noise.... most fax machines are programmed to automatically retry the fax if it doesn't go thru, so I would get these calls over and over again. When I finally figured out what was going on, I had to make a sign saying "PHONE # _________ IS NO LONGER A FAX MACHINE FOR __________. IT IS A CELL PHONE, PLEASE STOP SENDING FAXES TO THIS NUMBER." ....Every time i got a fax call, I had to write down the number and fax my sign to the calling fax machine.Since it was a company phone I didn't have to pay for the calls, but it was an extreme annoyance. Good luck with the amazing offers you're getting from the mainland. BTW, if you are looking for some ammo to use against them, check out "Revenge On The Telemarketers".
