Hello all...I've found several (old) threads on adjusting the parking brake but does anyone have any insight on how to possibly grease any mechanicals or any other work that can be done to them?Yesterday I replaces my pads and rotors. I used a brake cleaner when the rear rotors were off to clean it up as I thought I was supposed to. Got everything installed ok - went through breaking them in and all seemed fine. A little scraping type noise but the rotors were powder coated and the pads had an abrasive to remove this (or to bed into existing rotors. But the scraping sound didn't go away and seemed to get progressively worse.I determined tonight that more than likely I did something to the parking (E)brake when using the brake cleaner with the rotors off. They have a scratchy/squeally sound for maybe 5 minutes then the squeal fades away for 5 minutes then it comes back. Right turns tends to bring on the scratchy sound but just while turning.I determined it to be the parking brake because the sound didn't change if pressing the brakes at all but the sound did go away if I pulled up on the parking brake handle while it was in motion. When I released it the sound would begin again. Any lubing procedure I should consider especially since I know the cleaner spray probably dissolved most of it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!Thanks...Dave
Yes... I found an E Brake overhaul segment last night in an online repair manual so I think I know where to lube it. Will also try adjusting it too now that I found that info. Thanks for the help!
