Left headlight acting stupid...

Post by ThunderRoad »

Noticed our left headlight was not burning yesterday- so I put a brand new bulb in it today and it is STILL out.?!?!?!Are there any records of "issues" with the left headlight, other than a burned out bulb?TIA

If your headlight is burning... then (removed) call the fire department... Check your wire harness for burnt connectors. You may need to buy a new plug end and wire it in.

After a bit more checking, it's only the low beam that's out.btw, the headlight 'burning' might be a term that is too old for you.So I'm showing my age, big-whoop. You are too.

i was teasing... now if you said you were looking for the crank handle yea.. thats showing your age.back on topic.both bulbs were burnt only on the lowbeam.did you try them on the other side of the car? if they work on the other side then it still points to a bad plug on your factory harness.

I know- mee too... I haven't tried swapping sides of the bulb because I went straight for a brand new bulb... but the left low beam is still out. I guess I'll meter it out and see if I can find an open in the low beam wiring.I came here in the hopes that it was common enough that someone (factory or end user) had a quick answer. Thanks for the advice.

it's not a normal thing , Unless, your running higher then the normal 55/80watt bulbs.

I agree with getting a meter on the harness and seeing what it's doing. It's been a while but I *think* there are two separate relays (underhood fuse block) for left/right headlights, perhaps? Could try swapping those to see if the problem follows the relay.
