Hi all,I just bought a 2006 all black vibe after crashing my orange 2004.One of the first mods I want to make is paint my decals black, because I think it makes the car look really clean, and still allows others to identify it. So I was wondering what is underneath the decals? Are there mounting holes? Are the decals just stuck on with glue? Will there be glue reisdue? How could I reattach them if they were glued on?Thanks all!
Okay, so there wont be any holes. But how do you recommend that I paint them? just regular automotive spray paint? and should i reattach them with something better than double sided tape?Oh, and how difficult are they to remove?

You will then need some go-gone to get the rest of the double sided tape off.Painting... if you must lol any rattle can color will do.But i still say leave them off lol As for putting them back on you will have a very tough time cutting the double sided tape to the outline of the emblem.

hmmmIt does sound like alot of work, but I'm up for it!I just hope it will turn out how I'm picturing it.Good tip on the dental floss or fishing line, i never would have thought of that.Oh one more thing... I suppose i should sand the decals first before painting, eh?

My 2003 red Vibe emblems had turned pink from the sun etc. That would have been a good fix if I cared enough to do that. Now if the emblem was CHEVY maybe I would consider removal. Could be interesting for defending parking tickets - the cop might not know how to identify my car! Hey - maybe I could get a Scion emblem or something like that. "Judge - he must have written down the wrong plate number, as you can see from my registration I am driving a Pontiac."My project would be to carefully remove the dealer sticker - forgot to tell them (again) not to crap up my car with that. I'll use their license plate holder but don't like the ugly stick on. I hear carefully applied heat from from a hair dryer will do that trick

i am assuming you mean the "Vibe" decals, i haven't removed mine yet because I'm waiting for a warm day, not too sunny, and no rain(*excuse* yeah....i'm lazy). Let me know how it goes and what you did. I was planning on putting mine back on, but in a different area. I also wanted them to be easily taken off and put back on for when i clean the car. my idea was to apply magnets to the decal. possibly rare earth magnets because they are stronger and will hopefully be strong enough to resist highway speed drag.

As for the waiting for a warm day. Using a hair dryer while cutting through the tape with floss or fishing line does wonders.
