Hello all,I just set out to do my second oil change and I can't seem to find the right filter. The GM dealerships all try to give me a canister-style filter, but the 1.8L needs a cartridge style. Toyota dealerships (where I got my last filter) are providing the cartridge-style filter, but it only includes 1 o-ring. I distinctly remember there being 2 o-rings that needed to be replaced, but the Toyota people claim their computer doesn't lie.NAPA autoparts computer also says that it's only one o-ring.Canadian Tire doesn't have a clue!Mr. Lube and Lube City say they can't even do oil changes on new Vibes! So I hoping that someone can give me the GM parts code so I can actually get the right one from the dealership. Or, is it possible that the filter with 1 o-ring is now the correct type? Did I make up the other o-ring?Any info is greatly appreciated, as I'm currently driving with dirty oil and I'm afraid trust Toyota and drain out the oil, only to find that I have the wrong filter.
You got the right one from Toyota goochsmooch. Toyota knows what they are doing; GM does not. There is only one rubber o-ring. Toyota part #: 04152-YZZA6. I wish the Corolla-Vibe had a twist off filter. It would make things a whole lot easier. The cannister filter saves the enviornment since it totally breaks down (except for the rubber o-ring which smaller male fish use to swim through to impress the lady fish.)
I just got back from a visit to Parts Source on my break and was lucky enough to run into a guy that also works at Toyota. Caretaker is mostly right, Toyota knew what they were doing... this time! They gave me the right filter, but the reason for my confusion is that the first time I visited Toyota they gave me a cartridge filter for the 2009 V6 Camry. It is a slightly larger cartridge with 2 o-rings. Apparently we only need to replace the larger o-ring and the smaller one is meant to last. So I just drove the last 6000 km's with a larger Camry oil filter and I've noticed no problems or changes in performance. So for those of you who like the idea of a larger cartridge to filter more of your oil, ask for the 2009 V6 Camry filter!
