Stereo lights completely out

Post by Wolfman213 »

06 base. The only mods I have done is is the HID projector retrofit with angel eyes and DRL kill.If I do not have the exterior lights, the stereo lights come on just fine. If I turn on the parking lights, the lights on the stereo disappear. The stereo will still work though. I can have the exterior lights off and the angel eyes on and the stereo lights up like normal. I do not have the angel eyes fused yet. That is basically the synopsis of what's going on. The only thing I am thinking is that last night when I was testing the projectors but didn't now have the angel eyes hooked up yet, the stereo was fine. Even though it is only affected when i turn on the exterior lights, I'm thinking it has something to do with not having the angel eyes fused yet. Any thoughts or theories?

I'd expect you to have checked or noticed, but I'll ask anywayHave you verified that the dimmer switch is not set to be completely dark? The stereo lights should be getting the same illumination voltage as the instrument cliuster, or the HVAC controls, and on mine as I dim the lights, the stereo goes dark a little before the other lights, but since they get the same output of the dimmer, I would expect an electrical problem to affect all of them, not just the radio.

I think my first, and most obvious, possibility is to fuse the AEwiring. Since currently I have it running directly to the battery, I figure that is probably causing the issue.

I installed an inline fuse for the angel eyes. I agree joatman, it shouldn't have anything to do with the stereo, but since that was the only thing that I didn't "properly" do, it was my first guess. It needed to be done anyways though. That didn't work. So as I'm sitting in the drivers seat, I keep thinking, man the gauges are really dark when I turn the lights on. As I'm trying to adjust the brightness, I realize it's not adjusting. (Sublime, I guess I just thought they were bright lolEPIPHANYHow about I hook back up the dimmer (and remote mirror) that I unhooked when I was installing the switch!!!Yeah, I feel like an idiot!!!

Lol.... something something, Forest for the trees... lol.. It's all good, happens to the best of us... I was working on my audio, building my sub baffle, yeah, I cut it to small 2 times before I got it right... lol... goes back to the old addage "cut 3 times and it's still to short"... lol.... In my defense, the part was being built to fit a very irregular area, so it was a lot of trim, fit, trim, fit, trim, fit..... DOH to much... lol... This is baffle #2...lol...

I'm decent with audio, but definitely don't know that much. So what is a sub baffle and are you utilizing the whole trunk-through section as a baffle??
