Hi guys.Name's Paul and I live in Toronto. I've been the owner of a 2009 Pontiac Vibe AWD since just before Christmas. Carbon grey, with a sunroof. For the most part, it's a great little car. There's a lot to like about it.I was just wondering, though... What's the break-in period like on these puppies? I've put just under 2000 Km on it so far (no, not converting to miles)... And I'm averaging about 300 to 350 Km per full tank.Is that normal until I've driven it a certain amount?
Hey Paul --- welcome to the forum...see what the mileage is like after an oil change --- i usual average between 350-500 per tank depending on the season
Well... You guys seem like a friendly bunch. I kind of figured waiting until after my first oil change would be the way to go. The other issue is that it's been cold out, and my daily commute is about 10 Km one way, so maybe the engine just doesn't have time to warm up.Here's a picture. Note the winter tires and salt on the side...
Anyone notice that we seem to be one of the last countries around still using miles instead of kilometers? What a pain.Welcome to the group and do change your oil. You have AWD, an Automatic Trans and the bigger 2.4l engine... so 300 to 350 Km in winter is not too terrible. You will see improvement once the warmer weather reaches you and stays around. Keep the tires inflated properly (check them often), use a good quality synthetic oil, and push the accelerator pedal gently to get up to cruising speed. That should help extend the distance a tank of fuel lasts.

We're one of the last countries to do a lot of things vibolista. The fall of the Roman Empire is upon us.Welcome TorontoGuy. Say hello to 'Lacey Burrows' for me if you run into her!! By the way: somebody stole your wheel covers
Nah. Those are my snows. I never bother with wheel covers on them, regardless of car. Just chrome wheel nuts on a bare black wheel. The car came with nice aluminum wheels for the 17-inch all-season tires, though. That'll look pretty cool when I put them on.That reminds me... I've read that the little disc with the pontiac symbol in the middle of some of the Vibe wheels is easy to unscrew. Is that true? Would putting a little lock-tight in there be a good idea?As for Lacey Burrows and the fall of the Roman Empire... We'll see...
