Is it normal for the light that illuminates the gear selector label to not come on right away with the headlights? For some reason it takes some time before the gear selector gets illuminated at night with the lights on. Not a big deal to me, but my g/f is not too comfortable with not seeing which gear she selected for the first couple of minutes after the headlights turn on at night. Thanks, Chris
Hmmm.. mine comes on right away on my '05 AWD Vibe. Might be a loose connection, does the light come on when parked or only after going over a bump while driving?
My Fleet:
'15 Ford Fusion AWD Titanium 2.0 Tutbo
'14 Lincoln MXZ AWD 2.0 Turbo
'14 Nissan Pathfinder AWD SL
'05 Pontiac Vibe AWD
Since I do not really drive the car I do not know exactly when it comes on, but my g/f says she will eventually notice the light on after driving a couple of minutes.
What year Vibe? If it's a couple minutes, there's something wrong there... The earlier models had a 15 second delay from engine start until all of the lights come on. There are still DRL's up front during that time so it may give one the impression that the lights are on but every other side of the car is dark. The interior lighting for the radio, climate control, and shifter are also off during that time. Not sure what year Vibe you've got, but that is possibility. Next time it happens have her manually switch on the headlights and see if the shifter light comes on right away.
