HID Relay?

Post by raphide »

So today, with some great weather, I decided to go and install the HID kit I bought a month or two ago.Of course, as with all things, I ran into some problems. On wiring harness that came with the kit, I can not find where to plug the relay into the harness?I'm assuming it is somewhere near the battery, but where? I have looked in the main fuse block, and just about everywhere else. I see the connections for each of the separate headlights low on each side of the car but can not find anything else. However, the relay calls for a single connection and I have been unsuccessful in tracing these back to one spot on the car.Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks,Ben

I wish I could help you out, Ben. But I know nothing about HID's. I'm pretty good at changing out my Silverstar bulbs, though...lol. I'm sure someone with HID experience on the Vibe will give you the info you need...or you could search for "relay" and see what comes up. A search for "HID" will not yeild any results since our search engine only searched for words with 4 or more letters. Good Luck, Man! Let us know how they look/work when you are done. Also, try searching on http://www.matrixowners.com they have a lot of HID users over there as well.

I'm a little confused by your post... Are you trying to find out where the relay plugs into the HID harness? Or where to hook it up to the car?

there really should only be a few connections. One for the headlight harness, one for the ground, one for the positive lead, one for the ballast, and two for each bulb

Due to problems with not having a camera to use, I can only do my best to describe what this neat little problem is.This is the kit I have: http://www.amazon.com/XenTec-C...r=8-2I have figured out where everything is supposed to go as far as plugging in the bulbs, and the ballasts (I hope.) The only thing left on the relay is this connection that has 3 lines. It looks almost like an electrical outlet. In fact, it looks like the headlight connection on a regular 9003 bulb. I also located under the hood the individual light controls (LH, RH). Someone at Pep Boys told me to just unplug the one closest to the battery and plug the relay in there and that should draw power for both bulbs, though I find this a bit hard to believe.Any help would be VERY useful as this has stumped me for hours now (and I lost my daylight ) Thanks a lot,Ben

If in understand you correctly the plug that had three prongs to it does go the the factory headlight harness. It simply controls the high-low beam if you got a bi-xenon kit.depending on the wire harness and the company if they supplied one harness for both lights then yes the pep-boy guy is correct. You should have to factory harness plugs just dangling at this point if you have your HID bulbs in the headlight.Plug the three prong plug in to the factory harness.

I know that this needs to be plugged into the harness, so if the relay (I have two, both with only one of these three prong plugs), then just plug it into the opening nearest the battery, and unplug the old one? Last question: What should I do with the old one? Thanks so much!Ben
