Vibe chosen for Canada's AJAC Award for Wagons

Post by Frosty »

This news was mentioned in the thread http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1642 but I think it warrants its own thread. From the Toronto Star Perhaps the biggest surprise of the competition was Pontiac's versatile Vibe, upsetting a mixed field comprising the Audi A4 3.0 Avant, GMC Savanna, Mazda MPV, Subaru Baja, Volkswagen Jetta Wagon and Volkswagen Passat W8 Wagon to become the Best New StationWagon/MPV. Full details at http://www.ajac.ca/ Sales of Vehicles that are Awarded AJAC's are typically stronger, so note to GM: Get ready to build more Vibes for Canada!

It's only a matter of time before the Vibe receives even more awards as the years roll forward. The Vibe definately deserves the awards it receives.

Congradualtion to hte Vibe.I take a look at the other vehicule in the station wagon/MPV class and it think they compared apples with orange.... According to me, the Mazda MPV is an mini-van and should be with other model as Dodge Caravan, Pontiac Montana and Honda Odissey. Also, the Chevrolet Savanna is more a delevery vehicule.I think we have to compare potatoes with potatoes. Where are the Toyota Matrix, the Mazda P5, Suzuki Aerio.....I know the Vibe is a "crossover", can be put in SUV, compact or station class but compare a Vibe with a Savanna......I'm very proud the Vibe won this price, but I think they compare togetter vehicule who are not in the same class. My opinion

They either are not getting the message or are getting the message and are ignoring the problem. A friend at work went to a dealer last night (his wife wants a VIBE) and the dealer told him right away, 'if you order a VIBE it will take A YEAR to arrive'. A YEAR! Then he tried to sell him a Grand AM. Are you listening NUMMI!? Somebody goes into a dealer asking for a VIBE, and they try to sell him a GRAND AM. One award the VIBE will NOT win in Canada is dealer satisfaction. The dealers are getting raped on this car and GM has effectively BLOWN the launch of the VIBE in Canada. Nothing less. They BLEW it! The word on the street in Canada is, if you want a VIBE forget it. The VIBE is a car you just can't get. Look at a Mazda or Focus or even a Matrix instead. Someone should be losing their job. Congratulations on the award. Vibe is a great car. Can't get one in Canada.

Steering buyers to more profitable cars is not unusual for car dealers. I have two types in my town. Fortunately the Pontiac dealer makes money on volume, and so has had as many as 10 Vibes on his lot at a time. The Toyota Dealer, however, thinks selling a Matrix will steel profit from the sale of a Camry or Corola, and so hasn't bought a Matrix to sell since he had two about two months ago.I'd have probably bought a Matrix XRS (GT with an auto), but the toyota tried to give me the same line "It'll take 6 months to a year to get one in". I DID find several in a neighboring town, but opted for the Vibe, and am very Happy I did.KSNeptune

Must be worlds apart compared to where I live. When I purchased my GT, they found a ton sitting on lots in the area. Mine was actually over 100 days old when I purchased it. I will say this, after the dealer sold mine, they received about 15 new ones. Those where gone in about a week.

I was told that the Vibe won the EnerGuide award too. It consists of a prize for the car with the most efficient fuel economy in its category. There's two links about the awards the Vibe won: http://www.gmcanada.com/english/vehicle ... _ajac.html http://www.gmcanada.com/english/vehicle ... _ener.html
