Does anyone know how to smooth ground effects plastic?

Hi, I've got a 2009GT. It appears that someone backed into the front of the car. Just under the foglight, where the factory ground effects wrap around the front, there is a small impression of either an exhaust pipe or end of a trailer hitch. It's about 1/8" in size. I know the front plastic assembly is molded plastic so can I use heat and buffing to work out the impression?
