'09 GT brake noise

Post by Bikerscum »

Have had my GT for two weeks or so. Since day one it has had a.... ummm.. grinding/whisping noise on the left side. A grisping noise. Taking it back to the dealer is a pain, so I jacked it up today to see if I could find the source. There is a black sheet metal shield behind the rotor... splash guard I guess, it was rubbing on the rotor. I "returned it to factory specs" (bent it) & all is good. Wondering if anyone else has had the same?

It's just one of them minor defects that got through inspection, I wouldn't worry about it becoeming a recall or anything, heck, someone putting on the wheels prolly just bumped it or something... Cool you figured it out without taking it in... most of the time, you end up getting it back, and they say "they couldn't reproduce the problem"

That just started in my 09. Now I know what to look for. Started for me about 900 miles in, within 2-3 weeks.

Took mine to the dealer. It beat laying on salt and ice to do it myself. Its a known issue with the backing plate shield. Bulletin PIC4791.
