well im thinking about purchasing some (sportmax / xxr) 002 rims with 0 offset 16x8. Would the ride height be to high and leave to much wheel gap? would spacers be needed?i seen people with tires around 205/45/16 but im thinking about using a different tire set up but im not sure yet if i get these rims.some ideas---------i was doing some tire calculation and the people with these rims and 205/45/16 have a slow speedometer. So if they were going 60 it would actually be 56 mphexact as oem225/50/16this will read 1.5% slower so instead of 60 its 59.1 mph215/50/16this will read 3.2% slower so instead of 60 its 58.1 mph205/50/16iono if this will work since the tire is really widethis will read 1% slower so instead of 60 its 59.4 mph245/45/16any input would help... thx!

0 offset? Offsets that work with Matrix/Vibe run from around +35mm to +45 mm. The OEM 16 inch steel and alloy wheels are both +39mm and the Pontiac Option 17 inch alloy is a +45mm. A 205/45 16 would be pretty small in that wheel well, unless you lower your Vibe by a lot. The car would originally come with either a 205/55 16 tire or 215/50 17. I use 225/50 17. I think some one stuck a 215/55 18 on a Vibe, without problem. Check that offset.

well there is another matrix with the setup of the 0 offset and the 205/45/16. The tires are stretched and the car is really low from the ground. I want the same wheels but just beefier tires but would beefier tires make it look ugly?

wheels won't chane your ride hight AT ALL, espically if you are planning on using a "close to stock" size... You will still have a huge wheel gap, without lowering the car..
I would love to see a picture of a Matrix/Vibe with a 0 offset wheel. Any chance you could post it? If my limited ability with math allows, a 0mm offset wheel would be 38mm farther out from the hub than what I have installed. Millimeters are small, but 38 of them lined up side by side are going to end up just shy of an inch and a half. Hope you don't mind the tire sticking out beyond the wheel well lip just a tad. I didn't go out to my car and add an inch and a half to see where it would end up 'cause it's pretty dark out. I'll give it a look after work tomorrow. Another thing, I don't know if the 'trix and the Vibe have the same wheel well outer edge measurement. One has cladding and one doesn't, at least considering the first gen.

http://matrixowners.com/?showtopic=78781check out the thread... this guy is in hawaii, only 2 members have these rims... my car is lowered with s-techs.The other guy with these rims have the same set up as me and has these rims. Hes really close to touching the ground because the wheels are stretched

If you look closely at the pictures in your post, note that the edges of the tires and wheels are outside the wheel wells. The look is unique, but I would think that the 0 offset would place a little extra strain on the bearings and suspension parts. The 'stretched' smaller tire in the rear is intended to give you less traction so you can put the car into a drift. Great if you are going to drive it in drift competition, but probably pretty iffy on the road. Also the wheel well arch ends up quite a bit larger than the arch the tire makes so when lowered to the max it leaves no wheel gap at the top... then gradually becoming fairly large empty spaces toward the bottom ends of the wheel well. As a specialized drift event car it would be fine, although lowered and tired like that I wouldn't expect everyday driving would be too enjoyable. On a subjective note, I can't say that I like the look that much... but that's just me. I'm sure that sublime might have a word or two about the safety of tire 'stretching'.

im looking for some 16" that really look nice and are light in weight. 17's are okay but the tires are spanking me in the but. recommend me some nice 16's

Quote »I'm sure that sublime might have a word or two about the safety of tire 'stretching'. Someone's onto my game... lol... Yeah, streched tires is all the rage for those that don't really care much about proper handling or tire wear... "Mad tite" front/rear camber angles would cement the look..
I had a feeling you would say a word or two. lunacrusader... there are a bunch of great looking 16 wheels out there that are fairly light weight. Super light weight wheels will spank you more than any 17 inch tire, Though. So stay sane about the weight thing. Light is good... really light is good and expensive! Go looking in these sites for a start: http://www.tirerack.comhttp://www.discounttiredirect.com ... And if these guys don't have enough 16 inch alloy wheels to look at for your Vibe, let me know, cause there are more. Or you can just Google: alloy wheels. Just make sure that once you find a wheel you like, you post a picture. Good Luck!
