The car is finally done!! Drove it for the first time and it runs great! It got a new crankshaft and new pistons. One question. Is there a break-in period for the new parts? Or should it be ready to go?

I'm assuming they did, since the main problem was a bearing or multiple bearings. As for the heads...i dont know. Don't push it too hard and try to drive at varying speeds if possible. My friend told me something similar. He said to drive it at varying rpms and speeds, but overall don't go too hard on it. I opened it up full throttle once today (i had to...can you blame me?) and i was surprised at the sound. It's nearly two times louder than what it used to be under full load. Regardless I won't have a problem getting the miles up there. I go back to school in a week so I'm gonna be driving at least 40 miles a day. It feels so good to have the car back and running again

Drive it for 100 miles then change the oil, it'll make sure you aren't cycling shavings through your engine...

Ah yes of course. There were no reported shavings in my engine when the mechanics took it apart, but regardless I'm changing the oil as soon as possible....I'm on some stupid conventional oil I have to go back to synthetic or maybe royal purple again

You are supposed to break an engine in on conventional oil anyways so just leave it on that until 1,000 or so miles then change back to synthetic if you want.
