Question for all you lowered vibes

Post by wyatt89 »

How much does it run to get springs installed? I might pick up some lowering springs and I've been wondering how much it costs to have them put on.

Call around your local shops and get some quotes.

I was quoted $80 per corner so I did it myself......a few times over the years. Are you sure you want to lower it with your off-road history?

Haha, the vibe is a civilized road goer now I've got a datsun to torment now. DIY isn't an option as I live in an apartment. Also how well do the stock shocks cope with lowering springs? Do most lowering springs come with harder bump stops?

The stock shocks do ok and should last some time.most lowering springs use your stock bump stops, but you should cut about an inch or two off of them to alow the strut to travel more.

I did hotchkis so they came with bump stops and I could go stock for selling it. I also DIY'd it, but I thought some people were paying $120-150. It does depend on the shop and area you live. Can you do it in a friends/families driveway?

More than likely, how hard is it to work with a spring compressor and how hard is it to get everything off?

the hardest part is taking out all the plastic crap in the back of the car to get to the upper strut bolts. Other than that it's easy.

Other than that it's easy.I'm sure taking out the plastic crap before bringing in your car to the shop will reduce costs because it will minimalize the time it takes for the install. Just a thought, and depends on the billing.

Didn't someone do a tutorial on here awhile back about doing springs? I searched but I didn't find anything and I'm not on MO. How much different is the ride quality and is there a noticeable affect on the handling?
