after sitting at home for a week without pay cause of the weather. i started my car and pulled out of my drive way to go to the bank. i hear this awful clunking sound coming from the suspension. i pull my car back in pull out the jack(mind you its 24 degrees outside) and jack it up so see what i can see(lowered so cant see front stuff to well i find that my 3 1/2 year old hotchkis springs have rusted and broken. luckily or unluckily i had my old progress springs(which have been sitting 3 1/2 years on my shelf rusted(but not as bad as the hotchkis) but not broken.ironicaly i still had my stock springs on the shelf which look great(probably cause the werent on the car a few months before i swapped then). well i put in the progress fronts cause the front would be up to high with the stockers and also because they being shorter did not require a spring compressor. doing so i managed to strip the enlink hex so i actually put the springs on with the endlink and sway bay attached.(impact wouldnt get it off either) during my frostbitten haste i left out one of those fiber washers that go between the mount and spring top hat. well its back together but still popping. missing washer or possible busted endlink. plus im pretty sure the struts are blown.when i push down on the front it barely moves at all. then i have to drive this contraption to work monday(out side in the cold) till i figure out what to do? why me? (sigh)

Your struts are probably fine, if they are shot the front end pushes down easy and bounces several times. The popping may also be from not aligning everything properly when you reassembled the strut/spring assembly. My '04 LF popped on corners the first time I did them and that was the problem. I took it apart and redid it and it was fine.P.S. My Teins look like new going into their third snowy, salty winter.

(sigh)It's to bad you didn't live closer to central Mi, I have a garage that is heatable and all the needed tools.. Honestly, I wish I have more GenVibers that would come round and work on stuff, to be honest.. lol..
even if i lived in your town. i wasnt going to drive on broken springs. i exagerrated a little i have a garage(not heated) so i wasnt frostbitten. just very annoyed. i work outside in the winter sometimes so i had warm enough work clothes. but it still wasnt fun.i done mabey half a dozen spring jobs and the tools (sans rentable spring compressor) . to do the fronts in less than 2 hours bye myself mabey 3 1/2 hours whole car. anyhow i thought i was done modding my car but i guess 1 more is coming next week in the form of megan racing coilovers.

I've used my not returned loaner Autozone spring compressors for like 4-5 spring changes.. Seriously, go to Autozone "borrow" the spring compressors and don't take them back... 40$ later and you have your own... lol... Megans eh... nice.... cheaper end of the spectrum, but nice... you gotta post pics when they arrive and pics during the install..
ill be doing it in my cold dark garage so pics will suck.there are some nice pics on matrixowners of the kit and the car

That sucks! You would think they would last a lot longer than 3-1/2 years.... Hope fully you have a bullet heater or something else to warm up the garage before you work on it. This is going to be a bad week to do it too with temps staying below zero (at least here in MN).

Which had been insulated, but just covered with plastic... Now I gotta pretty decent "man cave"... Now, if I could only find the motivation I needed, i'd be out there working on the audio install....
