Can't lock car while running?

I've got an 09 base vibe. I'd like to lock the doors after I start the car to warm it up, but they won't stay locked with the engine running. The locks respond to the remote but unlock immediately. Is there a solution for this? Can't find anything in the manual.

You need to lock it/unlock it manually with your spare key. I carry both my keys in the winter so I can lock it while it warms up. This is the only solution...sorry.

Kind of a pain for us winter dwellers. At least on the '06 I can lock it from the inside and climb out the hatch window The other option would be to pick up an interior heater. Saves a bit of wear and tear on the engine with idling too.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think of locking it manually. I guess that door lock will get used after all.

hahah yeah "safety" feature. I think it will lock all doors but the driver if its running.
