Post by Vibe2009 »

#1. Lock myself out of the car.#2. Stuck in a snowbank. Is a great service GM is providing us, but I am too cheap to pay for it after initial trial I might change my mind if something big were to happen... touch wood...

1) How do you lock yourself out of the vibe? I thought that was rather tough...2) Yeah. Avoiding that would be better than onstar though Had onstar in the truck for the year trial. It was nice, but I don't think I'd pay for it. Quote, originally posted by 13Vibe03 »And before somebody says "You can't rely on having your cell phone after an accident"...just don't. How about "You can't rely on a cell phone when you're usually driving in places that don't have cell phone coverage"?

It's really easy to lock youself out... leave keys in the seat and use the lock button on the door on your way out. I locked 3 SETS of keys in my Vibe one time. The locksmith couldn't get the door unlocked so he just used his door unlocker tool thingy to hit the unlock button on the remote laying on the seat!

I too was thinking it rather difficult to lock the keys in the Vibe. It won't lock with a door open if you press the remote.Correct. Although you can always be working on stereo installations in the hatch with the doors locked because you only opened the hatch, set your keys down when grabbing side cutters, go inside for another beer, closing the hatch with the keys inside. 2 cars I've done that one on. Fortunately that only happens when I'm in my garage with the spare key(s) nearby.@Vibe2009Planning on re-subscribing to the service? I'd imagine one tow truck per winter would be about the same price as a year's onstar subscription.

I stopped for gas, shut off the engine and tossed the keys on the seat. My dog jumped into the seat, stepped on the remote and locked me out. I had to hitch a ride back to my camp and get my wife's key. I remember it was a hot day and I told the gas station owner to break a window if either dog started looking stressed from the heat. I felt bad for him, I tied up his gas pumps for 20 minutes because I couldn't move the car. I will never leave the keys in the car again.

i've locked myself out of my previous car once with the engine still on...the vibe sort of prevents that since if the door is opened and key is in the ignition, the doors won't lock. onstar is nice to have i guess...but i wouldn't subscribe to it after the one year thing is over...i have AAA and i like them better. i can have the car tow to any place i want within 100 miles instead of onstart just towing you to the nearest dealer i think. oh and AAA gave me a credit card size plastic key to keep in my wallet in case i lock myself out lol that comes in very handy at times =D
