Driver Shift Control (DSC) question

Post by drscribner »

Just bought an 09 Vibe GT automatic with Driver Shift Control (DSC) and the manual states "When comeing ot a stop, the vehicle will automatically shift into 1 (First) gear." Tired it and it doesn't not automatically reset to 1 (First) gear! Anything I can do or do I need to take it back to dealer. . . . pretty sure of the answer but it doesn't hurt to ask . . . especially when I live out of the area. Thanks, got Vibe?

Doesnt sound like anything you should be too worried about...the owner's manual isn't always gonna be 100% accurate. Take the car to the dealer and they'll probably tell you they can make you pay for a reflashed computer or they'll tell you there's nothing they can really do and that's how the car is made.Really its up to you here. Hope it helped

Funny!!!! That's exactly what they are telling me. It's funny that all other vehicles I've researched reset to 1st gear when coming to a complete stop. My Kia Optima has DSC and it resets to 1st gear when stopped at a stop sign! I've driven a manual and I own a motorcycle and I kill the engine if I try to start from a dead stop in 4th gear! Can anyone provide any information on if they have an automatic with DSC and if their's resets to 1st at stops? I appreciate the help.

That's screwed up that it doesn't shift into 1st. I haven't heard anyone complain about that particular issue yet but not really sure how many use this feature. I know there is a thread where people complain about it automatically upshifting instead of holding the gear longer as the driver wishes; but I haven't seen anything on downshifting. One would think it should behave like a normal automatic in that it will shift into 1st as you come to a stop. But that makes too much sense. Very strange if it's trying to make you take off in high gear. That does not sound normal at all.

IIRC the G6 doesn't shift down to 1st when stopped, either.
