Lift not working - Not lift bolts!

Post by gtVibrator »

My 04 GT has 30,000 kms on it. The car won't rev past 6500 rpm, so vvtl wont kick in. It hits a fuel cut off almost as if I am hitting redline. It used to work just fine but all of the sudden it won't. Car is under warranty but three dealers gave me the runaround and GM service is useless.Anybody have a suggestion? Lift bolts are new, no check engine light, no other problems with the car. Cleaned air filter, disconnected battery, I am out of ideas!

I know the engine will not allow you to hit lift until it reaches normal operating temp. if it is..hmm. not sure.

Whoever did the work on the engine, if the lift worked before the engine work, take it back to the ship who performed did the install and have them correct the issue as something they did is keeping it from hitting lift.

It is fully warmed up, and the lift bolts were replaced after the problem started occuring. The dealer has washed their hands saying that it is "within spec".

Seems absurd to claim that it's within spec when an engine with a redline of over 8K can't get above 6.5K.I wonder if some sensor is sending wrong information to the ECU. E.g. if the temperature sensor is giving low readings then the computer will keep the revs low. Do you have access to something like a ScanGauge that'll show what some of the internal data is?

No I don't have access to a Scangauge, but thats a good suggestion. The car idles fine and maintains a normal operating temperature though.Do you think it could be the MAF, telling the ECU that there isn't enough airflow?

go to any auto store (most have) free cel scan, get the code go online search it and post here with the code, we will help you with it. Then you'll have an idea on what it is. Its under warranty this HAS to be covered, lets not take this BS from dealers. 2zz's shouldnt need lift bolts only the older celica's had lift bolt issues so they didnt fix the issue.
