DVD Bit Rate Meter Box

I am electronically challenged.Never saw this before - but on the recently purchased Horton hears a who /Jim Carrey dvd a big box showing bit rate meter shows up on the screenand I don't know how to get rid of it. I have an older SONY surround sound system.Any thoughts?

sounds to me like a display setting on the dvd player. did you try hitting the display button on its remote? otherwise it should be a option (i hope) in the dvd player settings.

The remote that came with this dvd is lost - I use the universal remote that came with my Sony Bravia LCD. It seems to have limited dvd player controls. What is strange is that other dvd's do not show this bit rate meter screen.

could be a odd default with that type of dvd. From googling, looks like those players have the ability to show that, turns off by pressing the "display" button two more times and 2nd one shows other options.
