Clutch Time, Baby!

Post by skylinedrifter »

My clutch is starting to slip. Either I need to have something adjusted or, more likely, its time for a replacement. My Vibe is a base 2003 with no mods and I don't drive like a madman anymore, but I drive a LOT so would like something with a smooth and light pedal as well as something that I know I won't have to worry about for another 150k.I am toying with the idea of getting a Centerforce Dual Friction (loved the one I had on my 93 Saturn), but can anyone give me any recommendations? Thanks!

Thanks!I have never really liked the centerforce clutches due to the centrifugal weight system they use. It is just one more moving part that can break and cause problems down the line. One good thing is that they are having a Christmas sale for all of their clutches ACT and SPEC also have clutches that would fit the 1.8l. They are your more typical aftermarket clutch. They have a heavier pressure plates with more clamping force which will make your pedal a bit heavier. You have to remember that a heavier pressure plate will cause more wear and tear on your throwout bearing along with the crank thrust bearing. If you want smooth engagement along with a light pedal feel, OEM is usually the best drivable clutch (as long as your don't beat on it too much:P. )
