That's really cool... Good find! My GTI had a switchblade type key/remote and I much prefer it to my 2009 vibe key. When I take the key out of the ignition, I leave it in my hand until I lock the car (so I don't forget to lock it), and in the process of picking up something to carry out of the car, open/close the door, etc the metal portion of the key hits things and I'm afraid I'm going to scratch something... I've already put a nick in my dashboard.I'd be interested to hear how the quality is, how easy it is to program, and how the remote works.

Yea the thing I'm most interested in hearing about the quality. I've program a focus remote before and had to turn the key a couple times and had to push the lock button so the vibe shouldn't be too hard. The key can be cut at say Lowe's or ace. I just don't want to buy some thing that's going to break in a month or two.

don't the key need a chip in it to work for your car?

Looks like the existing fob is placed inside that chrome housing. Since the key does not have a chip, the stock or blade as some want to call it just needs to be cut.

Looks like they just put the guts of a fob in their housing and include the key blank in there. Then you just program the new fob the same way as any other. Go on and be a lab rat for the rest of us.

Ok, so reading that over, it looks like it uses it's own electronics, hense re-programing.. it's not just a "case" It also looks like it has the transponder chip in it already for the factory imobilizer, which can easily be worked around if it haddent... Quality, who knows... Obviously, it doesn't say ANYTHING about 07-09' models, IDK the difference, but it seems not to support it.. it could be just because of the transponder chip, but again, that's easily worked around..

Well I got finely got it a few days ago. USPS lost it. It programed easy. Quality looks good but only time will tell. The key blank did work when I got the key cut the guy said the two cuts that go long ways just barely didn't match and said it still mite work so he cut it but it didn't work. So I got a key cut that works and removed the key from the fob and cut the new key to fit only toke me a half in hour. So I like it. It takes less room up in my pocket. I got some photos I'll upload tomorrow.Photo#1

The fob cost $48 and two keys were $5 to get them cut.

Hey Tony:How's the Fob working?Does the hatch button work?, the panic button?I just received an identical one from "mykeyless-1", on eBay.... and I'm having trouble. If I push the rear hatch button, the panic (horn) goes off. If push the Panic button... nada.Lock and unlock work as they should.I know from taking it apart that the hatch button turns on the panic because the two are back-to-back. The panic button is glued ? shut ..you can't depress it.If I remove the "board" from the housing, all 4 buttons work as they should.Go figure

Follow up:Key blank was right on (had it cut from the code, not a copy).Resolved the afore mentioned problem by adding a rubber washer (as a spacer) over the "panic alarm" switch. Like I said, the alarm button (on the outer case) was glued shut.If someone really wanted the panic alarm function, you could do it with a little more modification.Quality is just OK, Not as nice/solid as the fob that came with my Audi.

I just received one from them too, completely dead, will not work with new battery and it is the same model as the existing. It is the exact same circuit board (model and rev), the bottom edge is ground off up to the leading edge of the circuit (opposite side of the battery). The inside of the case looks like a plastic post was broken off to fit the Toyota keyfob circuit, and it was intended for another car as the buttons press weird, they do not feel like "professionally built". Mabey I got a bum one.I have an email into them for replacement, but have not heard from them yet.

I've seen people on the Hyundai board complaining about these things too, nobody has had any luck with those. I think the general consensus was they're junk. Looks cool and sounds good in theory but good so not in real life I guess.

Sorry guys I don't look at this section to much. Mine is cracked on the upper back side and the lower front side. When I was putting the new key blank in a small pics broke that holds the spring in places so I had to put in a screw. They look good but it quality is junk.

I went back to My original keys. The back hatch would unlock all the time too cuz the buttons are flush with the housing. The hole thing was just a pain in the (removed).

Follow up, Follow up:Do not buy this flip key. Junk. Lasted two months and the plastic cracked where the metal key hinged. They replaced (the broken plastic part) and two months later... it cracked again to total failure. The key came off the FOB. Very poor engineering/design. My Audi flipkey cost a bunch... but at least it was built to last. FYI: eBay vendor was Mykeyless-1
