Today I had an unusual experience. I had parked my car at a mall for a short period and when I came back to my car I saw this couple checking it out.I've never had this happen to me, but I offered to let them take a closer look. They seemed impressed over all.I've seen commercials where people do that to cars, but I never saw anyone actually do that outside of dealers.Kinda cool to know that someone thinks my car is unique enough to take a closer look.

This has only happened to me with the Vibe and only right after we got it. Several times at Loblaws I saw people checking it out in the parking lot. Also I saw some kids pointing to it at the shoe store and one kid said "Voila la Vibe!" The most interesting one was when we went to a garage sale and had an old guy chasing us down the street while we drove, just so he could get a look at it.

My vibe gets checked out a lot when I'm stopped at a light. I always get the look like they've never seen this kind of car before. A couple times I was asked to roll down my window so they could ask a couple questions. Always makes me feel good.
I've had it happen several times. Most of the time teenagers with ricers lol.I bought my last car right when they were introduced ('99 Cougar) and got the same kind of thing.Pretty cool

Heck all the time. Today as a matter of fact I had a honda civic hatchback speed up next to me, and then they guy was asking me to floor it cause he wanted to hear how it sounded again. Then at the light he was like "WOW man you car sounds really nice. Is it a GT?" And i was like no, its base. "Well you car dips I like it" thats when I busted it "Ehh its ok, it still needs the supercharger, and a couple of other things" and his mouth just dropped. That made me day. lol

Happened once that I witnessed. Walking back to my car after work, saw another professor ahead of me glance once, then twice, then detour from his path to walk over to my Vibe. He stopped just far enough away to have it all fill his vision limits, then started walking around it. As I caught up to him I said something like "Great looking car, isn't it?", and he replied something like "Sure is!". I said I could give him a more detailed tour if he wanted. He said "Oh, this is YOUR car? How do you like it?" We had about 15 minutes of talk about it before he walked on to his car, glancing back at the Vibe every 5 or six steps.Great feeling.KSNeptune
I've had a few people ask me about it while stopped at stop lights. They give you the roll down your window signal (like from the grey pupon commecials). I've also had a few people stop walking and ask about it as well.I was once late for class because a guy stopped me on campus when I got out of my car so he could ask me a bunch of questions. He said he was getting his son one that same week.
Just this weekend I was nearly run over by a Jetta trying to nab the parking spot next to mine. The couple had been looking at a Vibe to replace the old Jetta. We had about a 10 minute chat about how awesome the Vibe is for hauling stuff around.

Frankly I still get more "check outs" with my "PT Crapper" as some one so irreverently called it than my Vibe.

Not trying to be cocky, but i get my Vibe checked out everyday it seems. No one in my town has a GT, and anyone that has a base is over 65 years old. So it is about as rare as you can get. My city has about 27,000 people and 1 Vibe GT. I love that, but people are constantly asking question about it, and no one believes it has navigation.
It is very rare to see a GT around me as well. I have only seen maybe 3 others. I have had a couple of people come and check out my car and ask me about it. One of my coworkers was really interested in in getting one and had all sorts of questions. Another coworker of mine, her sister bought a Vibe after she told her about mine.

I don't think it is whether or not it is a GT. I think it would get checked out regardless. Their just aren't too many GTs around. The coworkers sister that bought a Vibe bought a base. Most people who are checking out the car don't know the difference between the two anyways until you explain it to them. Then I tell them about the fuel requirement and they say that they would get a base.

quote:I'm just curious, but why would a GT get checked out more than a base model? They look the same outside, aside from the GT badging.Well, since my is lowered and real loud people just check it out regardless. Also, i more people friendly about my car. I don't mind sitting and telling someone all about it.
Today after work, when I first got into my car... a co-worker ( a hot shot but a good guy ) walked up and asked me about my Vibe!( I just got transfered here two days ago , so no one knows what I drive )He seemed so excited about my car and it was so funny. It's the first time that someone actually checked out my car, I've had my Vibe for 3 weeks now and before that I was driving a Dodge Spirit.I must admit, it feels really really great!BTW, he drives a BMW 325i ( newer model )

I always park my car right against the back of the restaurant, where the dining room windows overlook it. I often see people at the tables kinda pointing at it, or even just staring at it.I've never had anyone walk up to it and check it out or anything...but i'm working on it...some kid checked out my coworker's focus once (this kid needs a lesson in taste)...Then there's the losers who cover their eyes when I'm leaving because my headlights are "too bright." Everyone else looks over and has that look like "wow, what kinda car just blinded my date?"

I've gotten quite a few looks while driving, and actually, a friend of mine just saw a Shadow Vibe cruising the main drag in town on Friday night.I'll have to find him, get a new member to GenVibe.Anyways, back on topic: The best "checking out" story I have is I was outside doing some landscaping work for the house, and our mailman stops in front of our mailbox, gets out of the truck, hand-delivers the mail and starts up a conversation with me about my Vibe. Pretty cool stuff, I directed him here if he had any questions, but it was only through word of mouth, so not sure if he ever made it though. Anyways, that's my little story.
The vibe is a pretty unique vehicle right now...I work in a mall and once had a guy park his Lexus sc400 beside me as I walked away to go in to work the guy was walking around my car shakin his head and pressed up against the glass to look in. I was really flattered..everyday that I drive to work it's just funny to watch peoples head wrench over because they have no idea what I'm driving but sure looks cool. most recently went to see 2 fast and 2 furious and sure enough after the movie a honda civic all tricked out and a honda prelude pulled up beside me and wanted to race. I kindly said no and they said the car was really cool.. too bad for the civic guy because he decided to light up his tires all the way out of the theater complex and didn't notice the cops sitting with their lights turned off across the lot. Needless to say the pulled him over and he got a stunting ticket. Love the vibe.

Noticed a guy in a 4 door sunfire checking me out as I drove by the other day -- he was on the opposite side of the intersection on the other side of the road, perhaps he's thinking about replacing his antiquated car with a shweet vibe...

Yeah, I don't think anyone walks past my Vibe without doing a double-take or almost walking into something else cuz they're staring. It's been very nice to have a vehicle that gets so much attention...Well... it was nice till last night. Went out for a late-night snack, driving back through town and started noticing a tricked out old Black Caddy, might have been a big Buick, followin me. Eh, I thought maybe it was just takin the same turns as me until I turned into my alley, which is a dead end alley, they pull in right behind me, stopped at the entrance then shut off their lights . I was freakin out! Pulled into my garage and sat there. Then I thought to call a family member and had em stay on the line while I walked to my house. I peeked back down the alley and they were gone. This is one thing I really hadn't counted on by getting such a nice vehicle... But at least it's getting noticed, aye? hehehe Oh, and I've had my Vibe GT for less than a weekDaveStill nameless "It's not Black, it's Abyss, dammit!" GT. Goin for a new set of tires soon -235/45-17- but no mods yet.

I noticed an unusual number of pedestrians watch my Vibe carefully as it drove past today. I thought for a minute that there might be some ghastly damage or body stuck in the grill that was getting all the attention. But after checking (no body) I'm sure it was just the Neptune Vibe's original and great looks that turned their heads.KSNeptune
has happened to me several times as well...... Everyone seems realy impressed by the Vibe.... One guy was a little pissed off that he had just spent $30 gs on a civic and then saw what he could have gotten in the Vibe for much less........ I also convinced one guy to test drive one and then he bought one............cool
I've had about 10 different situations where people have come up to me and asked about it, or were looking at it when I walked up. I think it is pretty cool. People want to know how much it costs, how much power it has. One guy even asked if it came with a rear entertainment option.
