Help please seems bad!

i got a 2005 vibe and anytime i throw it into reverse it sounds as if a rocket is taking off and the car is shaking violently loud any ideas on what could cause this? i got to walk 10 miles to school if this is serious =/

I assume it's an automatic. From your brief description, it sounds like a transmission problem. Is it still under warranty?

o yea im sorry its automatic, and yea it shuold be only a few thuosand miles on it, once i put it into drive its fine and drives well, just reverse is it worth bringing into the shop?

I would, esp. if it's under warranty. Are you fully stopped before engaging reverse?

yea im usually backing out my house or school parking lot thats when it happens everyone can hear it , could it be the exhasut and im taking it in as soon as my alero is back from the shop ill post when i know

I would bring it in. Noise means something is hitting something else, which means that something will eventually wear out. It could just be a minor adjustment right now and if you wait too long you could need a major repair.

Wheres the shaking coming from? You should be able to feel if its front or rear, left or right. Can you feel it in the shifter, peddles or steering wheel?
