A couple of concerns (maybe easy fixes?)

Post by fletcher »

1. The driver side window washer fluid nozzle is clogged and sprays nothing. How would I fix that? does it require replacement?2. I hit an object in the road which caused the front part of my vibe to crack/have issues, none of which I'm able to afford to fix right now. Most of it is purely cosmetic. The issue that I have is that the cover pieces under the car have come loose. There are two fairly similar plastic type 'covers' that connect to the middle of the car. I could not find a picture so hard to describe. You have to reach around one of them to change the oil filter if that helps. The question is, how do I reconnect them to the car? They scrape on the ground while I drive. There are holes in the plastic, and holes in the metal, but I don't know what to buy to reconnect them.

compressed air, or paperclip should clear the clog.first disconnect the hose from the sprayer and confirm that the sprayer is clogged by seeing if any fluid comes out of the hose when you ingage the washer sprayer. if not then there is a clog in the line.if the plastic is already dragging on the ground the mounting holes have probley already been ground off. it don't take but about 10seconds of rubbing to ruin it.only options are make new ones or replace the bad pieces. or duct tape.

the mounting holes are all in tact from what I can tell. I can go take a picture if necessary but only one of the holes is broken, and it appeared to have been connected with some sort of zip tie by someone at some point (probably some guy changing my oil at some point)they have been broken for quite some time and usually the wind will push it up, it only drags on the ground at lower speeds.

you can use zip ties again but they are held in with plastic expandable rivots.go to your local parts store and get a few new ones look kinda like thoseif its not the rivots that are missing then you need these that mount to the bumper, and a screw goes threw the bumper and the plastic shield then tightens in to the other side.

the rivots look right. I saw the pieces on the side that liooked like the second part you mentioned, but those are in tact (what is keeping the thing together really)

Yep, zip tie the plastic girdle back up. I have two or three holding mine up. The girdle is mainly to keep the car from overheating, and to keep water and grime out of the engine compartment. In the case of most VW's, I've been told that the cars will overheat if removed. I'm not sure what impact there would be on the Vibe if you simply removed it since it is not quite the same encompassing shroud as those found on VWs.As for the windshield washer, as already suggested, just stick a paper clip in the hole to unclog. You also can unhook the connection in the engine and blow out the line. I always get wax in my nozzle and have to clean it out with a paper clip.

i ended up using a safety pin to poke through the nozzles and they started flowing. of course that messed up their accuracy so i fiddled with that.got it to a point it at least works again so that's good.now just to go get some rivets.
