I installed a Lineage Ground Wire Kit this past weekend. It is a 5 wire, 4 gauge kit. Nice, high quality kit for only $45 on Ebay. There are 5 wires in this kit(18", 22", 26", 32", 38"). They are 4 Gauge ground wires, versus smaller 8 gauge kits, platinum dipped ends and sealed soldered connections. This is one of the best kits out there. Here is how I wired mine:From Negative battery terminal:To driver's side chassis:To Tranny:To rear valve cover:To passenger's side chassis:To Alternator bracket:And here is an overall pic:

I know that the warmer the temps get outside, the better my idle gets. It was 81° on Monday here and the idle was super smooth. I'll check it again today since it is only 47° and report back.EDIT: I checked the idle a little bit ago and is idling a little smoother than before. I am also getting a little better shifing and less static on a couple radio staions. So, overall I think it is worth $45.

looks great Brian I made the the mistake of having one of my ground points at the exhaust manifold, which was very stupid. After 3 or 4 months, the wire was partially melted onto the heat shield, and the end of it was all deformed. lol, should've just ran it to the tranny like u did.

For me, the smoother idle and acceleration is what I was able to notice.
do the kits come with instructions??? if so could someone post them. i was thinking about buyign some 4 GA for this. just don't know which wires are being replacedhope headlights are brighter if i roll up two windows at the same time my lights dimm some

All existing wiring stays. You are just adding these ground wires to your engine bay.

Hey Brian i just got my ground kit today and plan on doing it this weekend. Just wondering what lengths you used for each contact point and if you had any other pics.
For some reason I just saw this, but looks good! I never reinstalled my ground wires after the engine ordeal, amongst other things. I have such a list of things I currently own that I have yet to install, we could have a damronjr install meet just to put it all on and spend all day doing it! lol

Snow: The lengths are 18", 22", 26", 32", 38". I used the 18" from the alternator bracket to the passenger's side chassis.I used the 22" from the driver's side chassis, under the stock airbox to the battery negative terminal.I used the 26" from the passenger's side chassis to the rear valve cover.I used the 32" from the negative battery terminal, under the battery to the tranny.I used the 38" from the rear valve cover to the tranny.

If you guys decid to make your own ground kits up, MAKE SURE you solder the ends, which WILL require a torch... when you do, do the solder, just heat the very end of the ring and let the heat "wick" up the terminal and wire. By doing this you will melt the insulation the least amount possible... also have a vice or a pair of vice grips handy, to clamp the terminal into right after you are done, i will wick away the heat without getting it wet like if you were to dunk it into a water bath.... Also, make sure you tape or heatshrink the ends well, actually you should do both... tape will seal it well, and the heatshrink will make it look good... Good show as always BC...!!!!
Quote, originally posted by kunkstyle »What about a cold solder tool? Or would that not work for this application?I highly doubt it would get hot enough.... I personaly think they are a bunch of crap, but, i'm "old school"You have to have enough heat to get the solder to move via capillary action. If you don't you end up with a "cold" solder joint, which is useless... If the solder don't flow, then it don't go.... You can also buy adhesive lined heat shrink... no need for tape...

I list the lengths after I measured them in my first post. I also list what lengths I connected to which locations a little way up in this thread.

He doesn't have them anymore. I bought them off him and they just arrived in mail today.Won't have time to do anything about them until maybe next weekend though

Well I finally put them on and took a short test drive. It might be all in my head but it does seem to feel a bit peppier and the throttle response seems improved as well.

That is another possible side benifit to that... The electronics have an easier time recieving current through the system... that's why I mentioned the possible milage bump and easier starting to...
