Well today I took off the summer wheels and put on some crappy black steelies. I just felt like sharing how much I dislike winter. Time to start counting down the days until spring! ... oh wait, I almost forgot about the one saving grace winter has to offer... Snow drifting!!

It was real slippery last night, and the salt trucks were out so I realized it was that time again. I also put my wheels back on real early too lol. I will probably put them back on again in late March.

Not sure I would like the more rigid cold of MI or ON, I think IN is just fine with me

Snow drifting!!I put mine on last night to... we got hit with a HUGE amount of black ice after the sun went down.. my 45min drive took me 1.5hr doing 15 at times on the highway.. YES, it was that slippery.. glare ice.. and my A/S tires wern't up to task.. I was even using low 2 on the auto to keep speed in check without using the brakes... Every time I would let of the gas, the front wheels would stop for a second... it's was scary... must have seen 15 cars off the road..

I dont feel like the hassel lol.And Sublime, black ice is scary stuff. I think we all remember my little incident last winter!
Maybe you can find a set of aluminum trim rings and from a distance, if you squint a little, the black steelies might look... What am I saying?I still haven't swapped my summers for winters yet. Holding out to the last minute. It's sunny out this morning and 21 degrees. Have tried not to look at forecasts, but I know we just missed getting some snow from a storm that was a little too far to the east. We're getting the wind, but no snow yet! I like winter, even with all the extra work it takes to dig out from the bigger snow storms. You get a pretty good work out each time. Unfortunately, the season is also pretty tough on car's mechanicals and exterior. Totally dislike ice. Not too much fun, unless you have freshly sharpened skates on.
'08 Manual, Sun&Sound, 17" Borbet Type CA wheels, 215/50 Summer Tires... 16" OE steel, 215/55 Snow Tires
Just got done putting my disgusting stock wheels back on. I almost would prefer steelies because then people say "ahhh, he probably has a nice set of summer wheels" instead of "ahhh, look at those tiny ugly stock wheels that are chipped and scratched, he doesn't take care of his car" which is probably what they think when they look at my winter wheels. That and I have 3 different kinds of all season tires on them (removed)...I hate how it looks. The tire profile is way to large and the wheels are too small. I HATE winter with a passion. I hate holidays I hate snow I hate cold...BAHH HUMBUG!!!! (removed)
i WOULD have had my snows put on on tuesday (brand new X-ice 2) but when i got to the shop the nimrod aprentice put the rims on another set of tires and putt them on some one elses ride and mounted mine on wrong rims!!!!!!!!!!! GAH!!!!!!yesterday and today 10-15 cm !!!

The black ice is horrible, espically this time of year when EVERYONE, seems to have forgotten the fact that they live in a "snow" area and common driving skills go right out the window... I've almost re-ended numorious people on the highway now, because they seem to think it's ok to merge into the left lane, WITH NO TURN SIGNAL, doing 10 under the speedlimit, WHILE watching me come up from behind in the left lane at speed... to only then use the proper tunr signal to merge back into the right lane iin front of the parson they just passed, that doesn't really require a turn signal because they HAVE ALREADY BEEN PASSED... I hate my comute... worst part of my day...

I would have already put my winter tires on if I HAD ANY!! I sold my factory wheels with the intentions of buying some 16" factory alloys and putting snow tires on em. Well now I don't have money for wheels and I'm stuck with the 18's and summer tires. The summer tires don't even like wet pavement! I'm scared to see what they would do in the snow. As for now, the plan is to leave the Vibe in the garage and drive the Blazer when the snow is on the ground. The 33's and four wheel drive do better than snow tires anyways. Losing 14mpg is tough though. Anyone have any factory 16's laying around cheap?

Here on the Oregon coast, we get lots of rain. Rarely do we get snow, and when we do, it only sticks around for an hour. I'm not going to worry about winter tires.
That's a nice blazer!Winter tires are for the most part pointless anyways. Just gotta learn how to drive. I just have crappy touring tires on my winter rims.
Thanks for the compliment! I should get a picture up here of the S10 I just built for my little bro. It makes my Blazer look small! I've never actually used snow tires on any of my vehicles. But those performance summer tires just won't cut it no matter how I drive. I had no problems with the factory 17's last winter. Too bad I sold em. Oh well here's a pic of the truck right here for ya!

That truck is his daily driver. At least for the winter. It is street legal with the exception of the bumper height. We have to build custom bumpers for it still but I ran out of time. I will probably lower it a couple inches too since the suspension is completely adjustable. All together it is a good driving and very roadworthy vehicle.

Winter tire are not pointless but not really necessary either. I remember one winter in Spokane Washington, no money for new tires and 6 foot of snow on the ground. Slick roads and almost bald tires really don't go well together, but I made it through that winter without any accidents or mishaps.Perhaps what Merzbow meant was that many people don't really know how to drive in the ice and snow.

(removed) I know that's why I said it! I don't have any use for them. I'm confident in my driving skill to go without. On a Subaru or something that has a faster than 14 second 0-60 time they would help a lot but on Vibe I just don't see the point if you know how to drive well!!!(removed), I'm sorry but that's how I feel. Do you still love me?
