all-in-one key

My 2009 Vibe is quite a great car, but I have a problem with the all-in-one key. Has anyone here found a way to divorce the lock/unlock buttons from the key itself?

Since it is all-in-one, the key is very fat, and won't fit in my key case. Being so big, it hangs outside. Then when I sit down quite often I trigger the panic alarm, or the door unlock.My previous ride had a small fob, seperate from the key, that had the lock/unlock buttons on it - much better arrangement.
