Need replacement bolt....

Post by Vibe2009 »

So I was trying to take the battery out today and had to remove the battery hold-down bar... the bolt that was use to hold the bar, it got lose and fall somewhere in the engine compartment... I try an hour to recover it, but no luck.... Can't be seen...So how should I go about getting a replacement? I dont have a extra bolt to do a comparison in a hardware shop...Will calling local Pontiac dealer help?

The bolt is likely sitting on one of the under-trays. Go and get a magnetic pick-up tool at a local place and start fishin.. lol.. other than that... the dealer "should" be able to help you with the bolt.. IDK about the 09' but it looked like the bolt on my 03' was a 1/4-20... I could be wrong though..

the battery hold down bracket is held in place by two bolts. the short one in front, which is the one that I assume you lost, and a long hooked one with a nut on top. Both are the same threads, so unscrew the nut off the long hooked bolt, take it to a hardware store and find am inch long bolt that fits that metric nut. edit - at least they are on my 2003. I don't know about your '09. You can double check, after you take the nut off, try to screw the long hooked bolt intot he hole where themissing bolt goes to check to they are the same threads
