The converter box is over $50 and there's a coupon you have to request to get (!!) I submitted my form over 3 weeks ago by fax, and I'm still waiting for my $40 off coupon! Just wondering how long it took to get your coupon?
Got mine by calling the phone number... don't remember what it is right now though. It only took a few minutes over the phone and I had my discount cards in the mail a few weeks later. I've had my boxes for a month or two at least. Didn't take too long to get them if I remember correctly.

I will send you my coupon (IF and WHEN) it finally gets here. (Our changeover is a month before everyone else because of the nesting birds that use the antennas.)I won't be needing my coupon because I WON a converter box tonight as a prize at a pet seminar! In addition to a free hotel buffet dinner, I got to choose whatever prize I wanted, but I needed this. And boy, am I happy! and MORE FREEBIES!
Shouldn't that phot come with a "Dogs not included" disclaimer?

My friend rec'd hers in less than 4 weeks. It's shipped standard mail rather than first class so it might take a bit longer to get to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or the USVI.

I refused to have it for years and did perfectly fine without it. We do have it now though...#2, what happens when your cable goes out? If you don't have an updated TV you'll be staring at snow.I plan on getting a converter just in case, despite us having cable. We still have one TV and I have a TV tuner card that is analog and we don't have a cable jack in the room where my computer sits so if I want to watch TV on the computer I have to use an antenna.

Even if you have cable, I think getting a DTV box is a good idea if your TV doesn't have a digital tuner. Our "big" TV was a wedding gift last year and it does have a digital tuner, but as CP said, the one in the bedroom does not. When the cable goes out, wouldn't you still want to be able to watch the news, especially if there is an emergency of some sort in your area?
Yay! Whelan's gonna pay for my cable! LOL I can't afford it, and even if I did, I work 12 hour days not counting drive time; not home enough to watch much TV, so I don't see much sense in another monthly bill. Plus...my dog's cancer med costs me $55/mo. I'd rather have my dog than TV.
