2009 2.4 litre winter wheels

Post by vintagegz »

Confused a bit on these winter wheel threads. For a 2009 Vibe FWD with 17 inch aluminum wheels would like to put on 16 inch steel wheels so I can mount P205/55 R16 snows. Which Toyota rims is everyone using, the 16 inch Camry ones, if so what year and does anyone have a part number? I assume they will be cheaper than GM 16 inch steel wheels. I realise that the bolt circle should be 114 mm. Appreciate any help.

I simply went to the toyota dealer and asked them for Camry wheels to fit on a 2009 2.4L vibe. After I finally convinced the part guy that it's the same thing as a Matrix XR 2.4L he gave me 4 wheels for 54$ each. You will also need 20 lug nuts since the ones from your alloys will not fit steel wheels. Toyota dealers usually keep a good supply of those as well at 1.35$ each.

I went for 16 inches. I'm not even sure if they sell 17 inches steel ones.I don't know the part number but just ask for 16 inches wheels for Matrix XR 2.4L. or camry, Only one will fit.

Quite a good deal I think.

Are the lugs for the 2.4L Matrix XR the same as a for the Camry?I have my tires and my rims, but I am having trouble finding lugs. CT and WM don't have catalogues for 2009 so they can't even check to see if they have them. The local GM dealer had 1 in stock, and it was over 9 dollars. I am also trying the Toyote dealer.flatoutjim

Apparently if you run snow tires on rims without the tire pressure monitor it will be fine, but the light will come on in the instrument panel. It appears you must go to the dealer to have this light turned off in the spring when you put your summer tires back on, and this is not a warranty repair, it is customer pay. You may want to check into this.

They only had chromed ones, 1.55$ each.

X42655I bought mine at Canadian Tire here in Ottawa. The wheels are priced at $49.99 each. That being said, this size appears to be in high demand.

I bought my winter wheel set from Tirerack. They have 16" steel wheels available for the 2.4 and GT models. Best of all, they mount, balance, and ship the wheels and tires to your door. The steel wheels look like they are good quality and cost around $55 each.

I have a chance to buy used winter rims and tires for my 09 Vibe 2.4L. They are 215/70R/15 - my current ones are 16".They are the same bolt pattern I need. Would I have any problems with changing size other than the tire sensor? I didn't realize I had to have the light turned back off in spring - I'll check with my dealer on that one. Might be cheaper over the 4 year lease to buy new tires with the right valves.Pat

15 inches tires won't fit on a 2.4L vibe, the brakes are too big.As for the TPMS it's just a small light close to the fog light indicator on your RPM counter. It's nowhere near as annoying as I feared it would be.

Thanks thats good to know before I buy used one. Just talked to the dealer about the light. I get my tires changed when I go in for the oil change /rotation package and he said they will reset the senor at no extra charge. He said they valves cost $100 per tire and no one gets them. The light doesn't worry me - I know now to ignore it. Just have to find the right "good deal"Pat

For those who got the wheels from Canadian Tire, did you have to get hubrings?
