Making the seats more comfortable

Post by Petrucci914 »

I don't like the seats in my Vibe. I generally drive long distances, as I visit the girlfriend and family a lot in Green Bay (2 hour drive). I already have back problems so this isn't helping.Any certain covers or additions people have made that have helped?

I've never been crazy about the Vibe seats, either. That's probably the one thing I would like to change.

Not trying to be a wise@$$, but could you be more specific about what is uncomfortable? Is the front of the seat too high? Back of the seat base too low? There are lots of add-on seat cushion options, but hard to suggest without more info.

I dunno. I can't find a comfortable position and it always leaves my back sore and strained. Other than that, I don't make seats, so I wouldn't know what the problem is.

Yes, I like them too. We've done a few straight-through drives from the SF Bay area to West Allis, WI and they've always been comfortable. But everyone's a little different in what makes them comfortable. So I'd suggest experimenting with a few added cushions. What works for one person may not be an improvement for someone else.

I have the leather seats and I have sat in the cloth seats. I think the leather seats are more comfortable. But the Vibe doesn't offer the optimal driving position for me. I need the steering wheel to tilt. Not an option on the Vibe.

I had the same issue on the vibe, I had to move the seat slightly and lumbar and found a comfy spot. Maybe talk with a physical therapist to see how you should be positioned would be a good idea. I bet the "correct" ergonomical way of sitting in a car is one that no one usually has their seat set at.

Are you tall? Over six feet? Is you (removed) getting sore?I had problems with the seats and ultimately decided to build seat track extensions. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=25988 Made a world of difference for my back and knee. Most important mod I ever did.Cheers and good luckA

yeah i had problems finding the perfect seat position, but when i found it ooohh yeah! but yeah the head rest doesn't exactly line up with the seat which might cause some neck or lower back discomfort

Also good posture is important when driving, I have a tendency to kind of pivot onto the right cheek, so I am angled towards the front left of the car, I usually have that left knee up a bit. Also take your wallet out of your back pocket if you keep it there.Maybe a throw a small pillow or folded up towel/blanket in that lower lumbar region.Good luck.
