2.4 Litre Engine Mods

Post by MountainMax »

Are there any mods out for these engines like a larger throttle body or cold air intakes? PCM upgrades?BTW we should get our own section for the 2.4 litre mods...

Try researching mods for the Scion TC. It should be the same exact motor.

1 thing you have to learn about owning a Vibe. Not many things are made for us.So searching other vehicles with the same engine are your only route.

I understand this, however I was asking to see if anyone else had already done this and had some info on it, before I done research elsewhere, I will wait a couple of days to see if anyone else has done any mods to theirs first, to make sure they work out our vibes too

No Vibe owner has modded their 2.4l engine. A Matrix Owner has added an aFe short ram intake to his. You might as well start researching elswhere now...you might just end up being the first Vibe 2.4l owner to mod their engine here on GenVibe.

I agree with BlueCrush, you may find it extremely beneficial (and you'll set the standard in the process) by researching your motor for either the new matrix or the scion tc. Both are the same engine and if you get this done quickly, you will be the first to mod an '09

howdy!magnaflow makes a good sounding exhaust. no on has done it yet to a vibe that i know of so you'd be the first for both mods. I havent heard anything bad about k&n intakes, but i dont buy them either....

I'm kind of a noob at this sort of thing...But what is the difference between a catback exhaust and whatever comes stock on the vibe 09?

a Cat-back exhaust system is a complete bolt on system including muffler and probably a resonator and all pipes/tips from the catalytic converter rearward, it will be lighter, look and sound better then stock and give you extra performance

i have researched this topic a good bit and have found that there are very few aftermarket performance parts for this car (i also looked for the matrix and scion tc) there are a few intakes and exhaust systems that i have found, and some chips. some of the above mentioned parts were universal-not vehicle specific, so that could mean having to modify your modifications. and i dont even want to get into the issue of the vehicle warranty. i would certainly like to keep mine...... the parts guy at the dealership told me a k+n air filter would screw up the air sensor or something like that, and therefore void my warranty!!! by the way, i also have an 09 vibe gt and would love to find some bolt-on performance parts that WOULD NOT void my warranty.
