so my in-laws live in the middle of nowhere in upstate ny. Getting to and from their house involves lots of windy(like turny not like blowing) hilly unlit roads. well really just one road for a long long distance. it sucks driving this at night because you cant see far enough to dodge the deer with the low beams and foglights, but with the high beams you cant see far enough to the sides or close up. so i rewired the foglights as per this thread>http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...32111saturday while at the inlaws, waited for the darkness to completely set in, and I set out to test my new mod. HOLY S***. the difference was amazig(and life saving) i saw a deer near the top of a hill that was outside the scope of the highbeams, but the fogs caught its eyes. i braked just in time for the whole herd to scamper across the road. im incredibly grateful for this site and the help that i get from you all. and i definitely recommend this mod for everyone
Sounds to me like a simple headlight adjustment is in order or at least try it first. If it's not foggy, fog lights are irritating and blinding to oncoming drivers and do nothing for distance vision.....that's why they're down low, to illuminate below the fog. The worst thing you can do is blind a deer with bright lights as they can't tell which direction to run.......they're temporarily blinded. There's not a headlight made that can't be over driven with too much speed at night including off road driving lights which are mounted up high, not low, like fog lights.
it's a nice mod...i always wished the fogs would stay on when the highs are on...is it normal for all fog lights to turn off when highs are on for all cars? all my other cars does the same thing and i was about to do this kind of mod for my maxima but i got rid of it before i got around doing it lol anyone did this on theh 09's yet?

YOU are blinding them not the people who have fog lights on and low beams, when the fog lights are wired correctly. The fogs turn off to limit the amount of draw on the elect. system your pulling more wattage with the highbeams on

If they leave thier high beams and fogs on you've got nowhere to look to avoid the light and see the road. Not to mention your eyes get tired quicker with both on.

yeah well im not one of those douches that leaves my hghs on. i only use them when i need them. and when it comes to turnign them off for oncoming traffic, you can usually see the light from their beams before they even enter your field of view. and like i said. i did it for the close up and wide angle view. you lose that with the high beams but i got it back now. and the whole point is to see the deer. i dot care if it gets frozen in my beams, easier to avoid. actually proved that the night i did the mod and escaped a herd of deer
