My laptop is prediciting harddrive failure immentaly.So I am making neccessary precausions to lot lose any critical data.At least I have the extended warenty so a new drive and install will not cost me anything. However Data Recovery could cost me a bit though.

all that means is the "smart" thing senses a error. Back up stuff and get a new one under warranty the smart thing only detects like 1 kind of failure..luckily though you got the one that warns you.

I'm back with a new harddrive. Everything seems to be ok. still have a lot of re-installing to do but I'm at least up and running again.Old Drive was a 60GB Seagate 4200 rpmNew Drive a 160GB Seagate 5400 rpmA seagate momentus 5400.3for $64. on NeweggI love Newegg.com

over the last several years I have ordered all kinds of computer parts. Never had an issue with anything always recieved parts on promissed date or earlier. I once posted a positive review about them somplace. A little while later i recieved a package from them out of the blue and i didnt order anything and it was a complimentry newegg ballcap.
