If anyone is noticing a huge loss in power, but can't find anything wrong

Hey guys, a buddy of mine has an Acura Integra LS 5 speed manual (1997) and he's recently noticed an extreme loss in power and a clunking sound from the front left axle area. We looked at his car multiple times and couldn't find anything wrong with the axle or any suspension component, so we were very confused. He raced me (go figure) and he said something broke near that area on the launch. Now here's the amazing part, I ran with him dead even from a dead stop until 72 mph when i got out of 2nd gear and shifted into 3rd, which gave him a half car lead, but even after that, we were still running even in terms of speed. Honestly afterwards, we decided that there was something seriously wrong with the car and it needed to be taken in to Acura. So he took it in to Acura and they called him back saying his motor mounts AND transmission mounts were broken. Honestly, I dont know how his car was driveable, and broken motor mounts alone will account for 20% loss of power to the wheels. So...if anyone cannot find the reason for their car growing weak, then check your motor mounts lol

Since the motor mounts are broken, they do not provide ANY vibration dampening to the motor, and the power will be broken up due to the vibration and will not reach the crank, therefore not reaching the wheels. Nearly 20% of the engine's power will be lost without secured motor mounts. You can test this theory by breaking all your motor mounts (only kidding) then pushing on the engine. It will move, and that is basically what will happen each time you drive the car, causing the loss in power. It doesn't seem like it would create such a huge loss, but it's all because the engine is not secured.

LOL. Typical symptoms of broken motor mounts are a distinct clunking (from the engine smacking the underside of the hood), and noticeable drop in power. But yep. If you lose really really badly, to like a sunfire or something, you can blame it on motor mounts

You mush have one heck of a fast Vibe to keep up with the VeeTak... I'm surprised you survived...

Lol suprisingly, his integra is not a launch monster. It's just a consistent pull through all 5 of its insane gears. LOL. I can hang with him best in first gear. The most he can ever get on me is half a car, but the integra has such a good 1-2 punch, its like he's in first gear the whole time until he shifts into 3rd, which also has great consistent pull. The vibe always survives
