Mini Laptop for 98$

Post by PopeyeFAFL »

There are already some sub-notebook Laptop (Asus Eee Pc) that sell for as less as $250, soon (like now) a Chinese firm (Hi-Vision) will sell a laptop for $98, obviously other manufacturers will follows offering more features for less or better features for the same price. It will be cheaper than a fancy graphic calculator, no need to up-grade, keep it a year or two, then toss it around (not good for pollution). It is amazing.I remember, 25/30 years ago, I was in awe in front of an Apple II at some $4K+http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY2azHo0 ... QbN6tpYXwA laptop for $120, soon $100 (in fact $98)I hope someone will revive something like my old Psion Series 5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh1uBRH6n8E

I my Asus eee 701! Take it anywhere and it does everything you need. I tend to use it more than I do my Mac or the big Linux box nowadays. If they can really build one and sell it for $98 that will be something. The eee is quite the affordable mini laptop but it isn't $98.

I use mine mainly for school (online classes). I have a full-on gaming rig at home, but it was more convenient for me to get to the library or starbucks after work without having the games there to distract me from homework. I wanted a laptop, but didn't want something that weighed more than my books and didn't want to shell out for an ultra-portable... thus my choice for netbook. Tah dah!!$500 was my ceiling and since I already own XP, I figured I'd give linux a try. If I didn't like it, I'd wipe it and load Winders.

I think some time in the future I'd love to pick up a cheap (sub $400) netbook with Ubuntu to use as a beater. So far, I think the MSI Wind is one of my favorites.
