I just finished a 750 km trip and I got 34.47 mpg.90% highway,light headwind,air cond on,70 m.p.h. Fresh oil change,5w20 full synthetic,1500 miles on car.
That is great! I know the sticker on those say 21/29, but I've seen so many people say they are getting over 30 MPGs on the highway with these 2.4L Vibes...makes me feel even better about getting one, because I do at least 85% highway driving
OK! but was that like downhill both ways? Seriously, way more than I would expect from a 2.4 litre motor... so great going, even with head winds. The 09 Vibe aero numbers must be pretty good, too. One thing though, did you use Imperial gallons or U.S. gallons to do this calculation. That would skew the numbers a bit. Either way, that's an impressive result.

Thats great mileage imho. I've only had my Vibe for 2 days, but haven't been able to do any real driving to see mileage results.'09 2.4 L SE 5 spd Man FWD Ultra White
2009 2.4L-5A Carbon Gray Metallic, Monsoon. Solar Gard Tinting, 3A Racing Stainless/Chrome Exhaust Tip (Pep Boys)Get 22mpg with 100% city, got 30.4mpg 90% highway, avg 25mpg. I'm looking into a K&N air filter to see if that helps. Could not find 1.8L auto when I was buying so got the 2.4L.

How did you calculate this mileage on the 3.5 engine? If you have a driver's information center on your vehicle and you are going by that; those tend to overestimate by about 2-3 mpg. 2. 3.5 is a V6 which will turn lower RPM's than a 4 cylinder. Also, my guess is your Maxx's engine is broken (more miles) compared to the postings in this thread.3. Going 60 mph vs 75 mph no doubt will give you better fuel mileage.4. How heavy is that Sonata again, how fast is she going when getting that mileage, and how many miles are on the car again?

Not sure which your asking about, the mileage is close to the rated mileage for a car sold in the US.As for the 2.4L vs 1.8L when I went looking for a car, the gray color, Monsoon, Automotic all the 1.8L had been sold out because of the GM employee price for everyone.
+1. Our dealer CANNOT locate a 1.8/5speed/power at all. He did find a 2.4, but so far we do not want that. Highway mileage is one thing, the Impala I just rented got 31.Around town the difference between the 1.8 and 2.4 is/ will be more dramatic, and that is where 90 percent of the miles are for us.It still irks the snot out of me that GM makes you feel cheap by buying the smaller engine. No intermittent wipers, fog lights, etc. You can get the smaller engine, (?) but we are going to make sure you are reminded you are in an ECONOMY car. Thanks for giving the customer what they want.

Well, after 3 fillups, here's the numbers:28 MPG (60% hwy, 40% city...and I was definitely driving it like I stole it)26 MPG (75% hwy, 25% city...still driving it like I was being filmed for Cops...) 31 MPG (80% hwy, 20% city...driving about 72-73 MPH on the highway with cruise, and more conservatively around town)And, I've only got 1200 miles on her. I think once I break it in, I can get 32 MPG or more...
