Hey guys, I just installed a cherry bomb muffler on my Vibe, and welded an exhaust tip right to the end of it, it was easy to put on, and the sound is ok, it's a little deeper then the exhaust I made up on my 03 vibe and not quite as loud (probably cause i have 2 converters and 2 resonators along with the muffler), anyhow I find i get a bit of drone noise on decel though, Im wondering if i put a longer exhaust tip on there if it would fix this problem, or maybe a resonating exhaust tip, what are your thoughts?
HAHA, bad@$$ How's it sound?? Got to be loud as hell. Post a video!I thought those were glasspacks? Or does Cherry bomb make the glasspack? Either way, I'm excited someone finally did something to the new Vibe.

I wonder if it would of been easier to just unbolt the exhaust in its entirety, then have piece bent then 2 clamps for the install.

+1 for creativityThe drone you are getting is most likely due to the straight-through nature of the cherry bomb muffler. The glasspacks are not very efficient in noise reduction. If you want a quieter exhaust, I would replace the glasspack with a larger muffler (such as Borla, Magnaflow, Dynomax). A baffled muffler usually gets rid of the droning noise that is caused by a standing wave created in the exhaust system. The extended muffler tip will help move the noise further back. But since our cars are basically an open box, the exhaust noise will sound louder due to the lack of a sealed trunk. Also, glasspacks do not survive very well on exhaust systems with catalytic converters built in. The temperature of the cat causes the fiberglass packing to melt away and "blow-out" in a relatively short amount of time.Again, nice job with the mod, and good luck tuning the sound of the exhaust.
Cherry bomb were the first ones to make a glasspack ! It's not too too loud, i'll post a clip from inside and outside forsure. I just ordered a resonating exhaust tip which will stick out further to help some of the drone on decel, im sure it will help. The stock exhaust still has 2 converters and 2 resonators besides the muffler keeping the noise down a bit. It's fairly deep thought, especially at idle and not as high pitched as my mod on my old vibe 1.8. Im not sure about economy but i tell you it definately accelerates quicker, while accelerating as the revs build up she will break a front tire loose, never done that before except on wet pavement. Will keep you guys posted.BTW I have also done the high beam in the low beam headlight mod also, just some slight modifications to the bulbs and they fit, higher wattage and noticeably brighter. Many more mods to come......

Im more mechanically minded so this is more of a "mod" to me imo, adding a spoiler or the door molding is more of an appearance change than a "mod".Keep posting pics up! be cool to see the tip on there.

I have now changed my magnaflow exhaust tip with a Monza type resonator tip and i made it stick out further to aid in reducing the drone noise and it made a huge difference, much quieter now and hardly any drone on decel

That way if you don't like the noise from the glasspack, you can use the slip fits and U clamps to reinstall the factory (removed). Magnaflow makes outstanding muffs and the stainless steel and ceramic packing they use will never burn out like fiberglass will (lifetime warranty). I've used them on a number of hot rods but not the Vibe.http://www.magnaflow.com/02pro...roundhttp://www.magnaflow.com/02pro...=Oval
LOL thats awesome!I was thinking of replacing the resonator behind the cat with one. Did it to my saturn and it worked quite well. Took the wet bumblebee fart sound out of the exhaust.Post some youtube videos please!
