frequent ask questions

Post by rasermon »

With 293 users, 601 threads, 4584 posts now, I think it would ne nice if we put together a FAQ's page up. Like (Pontiac Vibe and General FAQ). What do you think?

I think that's a great idea! But the answers to the FAQ's wouldhave to be fact, not opinion. For example, A FAQ couldn'tbe "Which is better, monotone or duotone?" because that's anopinion, not a fact. But that's my opinion, not a fact!

Nice post.A FAQ would contain questions w/ answers.. for example a question would be what size/number/type lightbulbs are used in the headlamps and foglamps of the Vibe in order to do a replacment? How should we get this started? Start a thread with members questions w/answers (or questions that need answers) and then start to conpile a page here once we gather a few?

I think it should be justFAQs and people wouldn't be able to post to it. Get itit's own moderator that would be the only one who isable to add more FAQs.

i would think you would want to put a FAQ under each forum....i would believe it would be easier to find or atleast categorize the FAQ page.....

I think that many of these are great ideas. I like the idea of a FAQ in each forum. Posting/editing should only be allowed by the mods and admins so things are guaranteed to be accurate and on-topic. Members could request that things be added to the FAQ thread in each forum if they feel something is appropriate. Also, the FAQ thread should be "sticky" so that it is always the first thread shown in each forum. I think these things would make the FAQ's and the site in general a bit easier to use and people could find the simple things faster. I know that as a mod, I find that sometimes it gets tiresome having to go over the same topic again and again and having to direct member after member to the same information that is already available on the site. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind helping out and doing my job on here, I just think that the FAQ idea would be a more efficient way of answering these questions. Going over things once in a while or directing someone to an answer wasn't as frequent about a year ago when I joined the site, but let's face it, the site has had a good amount of growth as the Vibe is becoming more aboundant. We've gone from a community of a few hundred members to what is now virtually a small city of, at last check, over 1400 members. Granted, all registered members are not active and some have not been on here for quite a while, but we are growing and I believe we will continue to grow. And who knows how many non-members browse the site for info regularly? Is there even a way to tell how many people are "just visiting" without being a member? Anyway, I think these changes would "clean up" the site a little and make things simpler for the mods, admins, and the users (registered or not).
