well ive been snooping around for the week looking to see what goodies to toss on the GT and first to come to mind was tuning. now I know my HP tuners software will not interface with tyota so i called up Unichip for more information on their operations. long story short if i want to tune this thing i have to spend 2500 to get certified. ghey if you ask me. not to mention the certification is not ase certification (as there is no tuning ASE certification) but rather Unichip certification. so i reach out to you the people who are working on these cars longer than I, is there a software out for the vibe that is a full suite or is everything mailorder tune? i also plan to make our own intake and exhaust, see no sence in paying 200 for intake pipe and 500+ for some pipes with flanges and mufflers.
I'm using a Greddy Blue modded to a Gold, with the tools.alpha addition and a PLX A/F gauge w/wideband O2. It autotunes the car to keep me from running to rich or lean. It seems to be working better than the $250 i paid to have someone dyno and create maps for me.I've had bad luck with Unichip on other cars. Poor cables, maps that would stop working etc.
dude check out the cheap modification threads.camcon or greddy emanage (but i hear they are going under....)check with tuners around your city or local cities to see if they are unichip authorized.

First off you didn't ask about internals or FI, you asked about chips. The Poor Man's Mod thread has the two cheapest chips available for the Vibe. Your chip options are:UnichipCamconEmanage BlueEmanage UltimateHyrda EMSThe Boomslang harness is available for the Camcon and both Emanage's.Second, internals and FI re not in the Poor Man's mot thread because they're not cheap.

Check out Monkeywrench racing, this will at least give you an idea. what i would like to have is the ability to build my own tune for the car. I know with domestics (mostly GMs) HP Tuners you just plug into the OBDII port and write on the existing PCM. no chipping, no piggy backing. and i can change any perameter i wish in the software. I know ruthie (my girlfriend) more than likely will not want to do anything too massive (by that i mean have a low 12 second car) but we want to see just what is capable with this motor.
Welcome to the world of imports. Their computers are tighter than a ....well......you catch my drift. With a lot of Domestics you can plug right in and go nuts and gain lots of power. Not with imports. You're pretty much stuck with FI, Internals, Add-On Mods, and then getting a Piggyback and getting it tuned professionally.

Once I get rid of the Regal, I'm going to miss having a tuner (DHP PowrTuner is what I have for my car).Impalamike, I think why you're getting so much confusion is that these guys are used to just swapping the PCM with a pre tuned unit, not flashing in tuning info with software.Since your Impala isn't black, yet you have an M90 I'm assuming you had an L36 and did a ZZP SS M90 kit?

I can't claim to know anything about the Vibes ECU, but have a look on OpenECU.org (IIRC) they might be able to steer you in the right direction... And unless you are planning on building the motor, you just aren't going to be happy.. it's just not a "perfomance" car...
