All ready to get a NEW 09, with the preferred package, it has NO power door locks with the manual? Remote keyless, but no door lock?WHY??????They offered us a killer deal, turn in our 03, and 7K cash/ 3 K GM card points. But no power door locks may be a deal breaker.
So, are you getting a GT with the stick? The weird thing is they say it has remote keyless entry, yet, no power door locks.Real crappy deal IMO.(removed) is GM thinking?
Wow, just found out you can not get intermittent wipers also. This sucks. Really looking bad for us getting a new vibe.GM, are you LISTENING? You suck.l
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. My 87 GTI had power door locks, my 95 stick neon had power door locks with crank windows. My 95 stick Vibe has power locks and windows. This would have been a dealbreaker. I had a 4 door Dodge without power door locks and I swore that I would never buy a car without them again. The unusual thing is that the stick in my Vibe does not have automatic door locks that locks the door above 20 MPH because the speed sensor for the power door locks is in the computer of the automatic transmission. The lawyers at GM probably said that if power door locks don't lock automatically, then GM could get sued. No power door locks, then it is your fault. Shakespeare was right about lawyers.

Just going by the literature, because if we buy, they bring in the car from over 100 miles away. Seems 5 speed 1.8's are rare. Our 03 also has fog lights. Cant get them in the new one. they are really dumbing down the base model, it is irritating. We would consider the 2.4, but the mileage is significantly different, and we were always happy with the 'ol 1.8.
Well, looking at this add leaves me to think the big sales book that I picked up at the dealer is full of it:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...89029It clearly shows power locks. It must be the "auto lock" function w/ auto that is not available. Very poorly worded.

I physically sat down with a salesman last week and we searched a few vehicles that were available, and a few popped up. The preferred package is different that the Power Package, just want to clarify that. 1.8 Litre is not rare, people are just buying them up more than the 2.4 litre as everyone thinks their is that much of a difference in fuel economy. 30 mpg + with a 2.4 litre is very reachable as other owners here have indicated.

according to the VOG the GT comes standard with power door locks, it is just as stated above that the 'auto lock' as you drive away is only available with the auto trans.
These things made me put off buying an '09. I wanted a 1.8 with a manual, but you can't get alloy wheels and a moonroof. (removed) ?Or am i wrong ?Personally, i would like the GT with th1 1.8L engine. Are you listening GM ? hello ?
21/28 vs 26/32. I have hit 37 with the 03 on a 1500 mile trip. That is a significant difference over the life of a car.1.8 w/ speed is fairly rare around here. Everyone "can get them", but no one nearby has one in stock.

Sure, but that's not much of an inducement for those of us who are used to seeing 40 mpg for highway mileage on the previous generation. The 2.4 l engine would give me worse fuel economy than any car I've bought in over 30 years (which doesn't say much for technology improvements in the auto industry - at least with regard to fuel efficiency). As others have noted, you can get power door locks (but without 'auto-locking') in the 1.8 l with manual transmission. But I do think they're making a mistake in not making all the options available in combination with the smaller engine. Some of us would be willing to pay extra once to get the options but don't want to commit to higher fuel costs (and corresponding CO2 emissions) for the entire life of the car.

As far as the GT having the 1.8 litre does not really seem logical anymore unless they bring back the same exact engine and emissions from 2003 model.

I would suggest ANY one looking at packages etc to just GO to the dealer and talk with them. The literature and online info is crap. Go see what they can get you, they will know a little more as they have sold some already and probably had questions similar to yours.
Hmmmm......... My 09 1.8L 5 speed manual has power locks and keyless entry. I love it It also has intermitant wipers, just not variable speed intermitant wipers. The automattic power door locks only work with an automattic transmission. Otherwise, the doors would be unlocking and locking every time you shifted because it would have to be triggered by neutral instead of park as there is no "park" in a manual transmission.
