Brakes still noisy after dealer service!!

Post by Phillip944 »

Hello,Two weeks ago, I took my wife's '03 Vibe to our dealer for new front brake pads. The pads were replaced, and the rotors resurfaced. Unfortunately, the car has been back twice because there's still noise. Both times the pads were greased & inspected. Here's the odd part. We took a drive last weekend. 20 minutes after we left, the grinding & squealing returned. It was as if the pads were never changed!! First thing Monday morning, we went back to the dealer. Amazingly, we barely hear anything. There's a slight squeal and a rubbing noise. If this sounds familiar to anyone, please help a guy out!! I just can't figure it out. Thanks in advance,Phillip

Personally, I never get rotors resurfaced or any of that crap. I just buy new pads and rotors to start things off fresh. I'm sure the rotors for this car are less than $25.

couple things could be the problem. The rotor surface might not be cut right, there's not a fine enough finished cut on the rotors and could cause a rubbing type noise, only when braking though, if the surface looks like a record player then there not cut right. also they should have after the finish cut applied a fine sand paper crosscuts to the rotor surface. if the rubbing noise happens when your not braking then you have another problem. as far as the squealing I've seen high metallic content type pads do this. also aniti rattle clips out of postion could cause the squeal, but less likey in your case because it would have been there in the beginning and not 20 min later. I've seen brand new rotors creating a rubbing or grinding like noise, simply because there made in china and the quaility of cut to the rotor is inferior. look at a new vehicle on the dealers lot and look at the rotor surface and compare it to yours. good luck
