The TPMS is a government mandated program. Its the Fed. Govnt. that said all cars built after 2007 have to have a TPMS. Complaining to GM is not going to do anything.
Easy fix.Pull the gauge cluster from the dash, remove the TPMS bulb so it does not light up anymore and your good. Then just check your pressure regularly like we all used to a few years ago before TPMS was around. My ex always had the issue of dealing with this light on her Jeep Liberty. The sensors were located in each wheel as it were instead of working off the ABS system. Therefore if the spare tire was low on the back it would alert the system. Always forgot about that one, but I guess it's good so you don't have a flat spare.FYI check your spares to be sure their properly inflated.
if the parts are the same between the matrix and the VIbe, then it might be worth getting a price quote from a toyota merchantranting to GM about what you see as a high cost of a replacement part will just get you angry, but no constructive result.

Please elaborate and let us know if it's truly as easy as you make it sound. Somehow, I doubt it. BTW, here's some damn good reading on the subject of TPMS.http://www.artsautomotive.com/TPMS.htm PlatinumVibe08

Some states, like Maine, have a yearly mandatory inspection that checks everything but emissions. If that irritating little yellow warning light doesn't show up during the ignition check, you get failed for a burned out light. So unless it's easy to pull and then replace, I'll put a small dot of black tape over it when the snows go on.I've been checking tire pressures since I was a kid. Anyone that ever rode a bicycle with under inflated tires should have the basic knowledge to understand what this condition produces. The difference between properly inflated and under inflated tires is not subtle. Optimum tire pressure helps increase any vehicle's economy, keeps tire wear more even across the tread and has a real effect on how the car handles. An under inflated tire is more susceptible to blow out and blah, blah, blah. Probably preaching to the choir here. Sorry. For some reason, the Fed regulators have decided to try to get the attention of those not paying attention. You guys know that the light will probably end up ignored as well. One of my co-workers has a Tundra with TPMS. With less than 40,000 miles on it, he already had an expensive sensor failure. It looks just like the one on our Vibes.Good luck trying to get these things to go away... but maybe we can start to petition or something against it.

What is needed is a easy reset swith that the vehicle owner can access that resets the system after a tire rotation or replacement or a system malfunction.
